Term of App't: Monday - Friday, 7 hours per day

Salary
UNDER REVIEW: Classification 17 $57,837.67 - $59,626.46 per annum, as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Annual vacation (119 hours) is pro-rated and front loaded. We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, as well as time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 - Jan 1st) of each year is additional paid time off. Enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory for all regular, full time support staff, with standard contributions matched by the employer.
Description
As a member of our HR/Payroll team, the Payroll & Benefits Assistant will prepare and process the payroll in the Colleague System; assist with benefits administration and provide confidential clerical support to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits, as well as the HR Department.
Daily tasks may include receiving and reviewing payroll entries, leave and benefits forms for completeness, authorization, and compliance; and then following up with employees, other departments, or external third parties as required. Our team will analyze earnings and deductions to determine appropriate calculations, based on applicable guidelines, regulations, and policies, referring to the collective agreements and Employment Standards Act.
The Payroll & Benefits Assistants will prepare reports for third party stakeholders as required by regulations, legislation, guidelines, or policies (i.e., Records of Employment, Service Canada requests, etc.)
Qualifications
Grade 12 diploma and completion of an office administration course with an additional two years of related work experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Previous experience working within an HRIS Systems would be asset, ideally in an environment with collective agreements. In order to be successful in this role, you must possess strong organizational skills, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple demands in a deadline driven environment. Preference will be given to those who have completed or are currently enrolled in the Canadian Payroll Association's Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification program. Must be able to work collaboratively as a member of the team.
Experience and proficiency with a current version of MS Office is required, and the successful candidate will complete a comprehensive clerical test.
