Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Housing Navigator Worker with experience assisting clients with housing coordination/placement to join the Youth Alcohol and Drug team in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As a Housing Navigator Worker with VCH you will


  • Collaborate and share information for community resource coordination.
  • Participate in in-services and team meetings and engages in ongoing program planning and quality improvement activities.
  • Provide program information by responding to queries from external housing agencies and staff.
  • Assist interdisciplinary team to conduct housing assessments that determine the appropriate housing model based on client’s needs, housing policies and best practices.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to match designated clients in appropriate housing.
  • Advocate for and provides assistance to clients to access and identify housing subsidies/income supports.


Education & Experience


  • Grade 12.
  • Two (2) years recent, related experience in a mental health & substance use service setting providing housing coordination and navigation to clients who have a variety of mental disorders and substance use issues or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Social Services Diploma or Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker Program.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • 5,000 keystrokes per hour.
  • Ability to do mathematical and financial calculations.
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse and addiction disorders and treatment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of community resources and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a community-based system.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop written material.
  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to maintain mutually respectful relationships with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the client population.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide client-centered solutions from a systems perspective.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
