Youth Worker - Specialized (Group) Care (Arc Programs)

arc programs is accepting applications for Youth Workers to provide support, supervision and nurturing to children and youth living in our two-bed staffed resources, located in Kelowna.

Hours / Schedule >

Full-time (40-hrs / week).

Applicants should be prepared to work a predictable rotating schedule consisting of:

• 8-hour shifts, alternating between mornings and evenings.
• 5 days on / 3 days off.
• 5 days on / 2 days off

Please be aware that this position requires weekend and holiday shifts, when part of the rotation schedule.

Responsibilities >

Child And Youth Workers Will

• Support clients to develop healthy lifestyles and appropriate behaviors
• Provide care and emotional nurturing, as well as skilled intervention and supervision of the children and youth living in the home.
• Work successfully as part of a collaborative case management team.

Applicants should be aware that this position involves assisting youth to manage challenging behaviours, and responding to crisis situations.

Preferred Experience >

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working with persons with disabilities including autism, as well as experience supporting youth and children who have complex needs and behaviours.

Ideally candidates will have experience working with high risk children and youth in a group care setting.

Qualifications >

This position requires sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description.

Qualifications include Human Service Worker Diploma, Child & Youth Care Diploma, Community Support Worker, BSW, Health Care Aide or other related Diploma, Degree, or Certificate Program; or relevant combination of training and related experience.

Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License and may be required to provide a sound personal vehicle for business use

Wage / Benefits >

$24.00 - $26.80 per hour based on relevant experience and education.

Upon successful completion of a probationary period, full-time employees (minimum 20-hrs per week) are eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP contributions).

New full-time employees are eligible for 3 weeks paid vacation to start, and paid sick days as needed.
