Maintains confidential files for each resident detailing case management efforts and completes all paperwork in a timely manner.

Degree/diploma in Social Work, Social Sciences, Human Service, a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

1 year of experience in service/people-facing fields of work (i.e. shelter/outreach work, customer service, hospitality, food services, etc.)

High degree of resourcefulness, ability to be deeply curious, and deep problem-solving skills.

Experience and ability/willingness to approach resident support using a wrap-around service approach and harm reduction philosophies.

Demonstrated competence to work with challenging behaviour and stressful situations and possess effective conflict and crisis management skills.

Experience with and working knowledge of HIFIS an asset.

Lived experience of homelessness and/or experience working with homeless and/or marginalized individuals is an asset.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to set effective personal boundaries with both clients and co-workers.

Proven ability to problem-solve, multi-task and work both independently and as an effective team member.

Vulnerable Sector and Police Check required.

3+ years working experience providing enhanced case management in a community-based housing or related agency

Facilitate group sessions and prepare presentations on housing related topics, evictions, landlord/tenant rights, money management

Post-secondary education in Social Services or related area of study

Superior communication skills, oral and written proficiency in English

Current and up-to-date knowledge of social services and social laws

Experience working with the Durham Welcome Centre Immigrant Services is a definite asset

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Identifies client's needs for services and makes appropriate referrals, or develops alternate strategies for client support, education and follow-up care.

Working knowledge of harm reduction principles.

Provides basic health-promotion information to clients such as crisis counselling/prevention/intervention around issues such as violence, loss/grief, harm reduction.

Interest in working with individuals living with addictions, mental health, psycho/social/physical, educational, emotional and/or environmental concerns in a variety of locations

Ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision

·Experience or understanding of entrepreneurship.

In depth knowledge and understanding of the risk factors for homelessness and the barriers to achieving housing stability for vulnerable people

Computer knowledge in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software, including database programs

An understanding of an interest in current environmental and waste management issues.

Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to interact with residents on a regular basis.

Knowledge of additional languages is an asset, including Punjabi, Tagalog, Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese.

Engage residents on how to sort their recyclables and organic materials.

Be able to provide their own transportation to work sites in the City of Calgary.

Ability to walk for multiple hours and work outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Advocate for clients and liaise with property manager(s) and landlords.

Meet regularly with Manager to discuss individual, team, and the overall effectiveness of client services.

Previous experience working with people experiencing homelessness or who have challenges in obtaining and maintaining housing.

Demonstrable crisis intervention, de-escalation, counseling, conflict resolution, and advocacy skills.

Excellent customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Strong written and verbal English language communication skills; other languages an asset.
