Reporting to the President of the Service Center, the General Manager is responsible for collaborating with senior leadership to establish the strategic plan for the division and communicating direction and priorities to the team. This role will monitor progress against the plan, recommend adjustments or changes based on market conditions or business priorities and provide regular updates. The General Manager will work closely with the Plant Operations, Purchasing and Logistics teams to ensure they have the right products needed to support customer needs in a timely fashion. In addition, this role will be responsible for commercial activities which include prospecting new customers, quoting, driving revenue growth and ensuring high customer satisfaction. With full P&L responsibility, this role will be responsible for increasing profitability by growing revenue and driving strong cost management through process optimization.
What you should expect:
- Ensure monthly and quarterly performance reviews against the plan as it pertains to the site's financial performance.
- Provide leadership operations by directing and coordinating activities to meet established goals,
- Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure availability of material to satisfy customer orders while balancing cost and inventory levels
- In conjunction with the President establish strategic initiatives for the Service Center that include short- and long-term activities to drive growth and expand the business.
- Establish commercial strategy for the Service Center; gain alignment with senior leadership team and
- Direct the annual budgeting and planning process for the site in conjunction with Senior Management.
- Develop and implement improved processes and policies with the goal of continuously improving to ensure we continue to meet the demands of our customers in a timely fashion
- Assist in creating the annual capital plan for the business and ensure successful delivery and implementation. Track spending and provide regular updates to leadership as required.

- Facilitate an account/regional review and establish strategies and actions to drive increased market share and revenue
- Establish objectives and milestones for personnel
- Maintains and develops positive relationships with existing and prospective clients, demonstrating excellent customer service and setting an example for other staff.
What you should bring:
- Previous experience in strategic planning, including goal setting and managing performance is a must
- 10+ years in a leadership role in a Sales or Operational role complemented with a Degree in Business or Finance
- The successful incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a commercial leadership role with P&L responsibility for a site, region or division
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills are vital to the position
- A solid track record within the metals industry
- Your high energy and strong sense of urgency are displayed in your track record of initiating
continuous improvement initiatives
- Effective negotiation and presentation skills; capable of presenting a compelling story to influence a decision or direction.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several competing priorities concurrently
- Experience leading a team of 20+ direct and indirect employees
- Proven track record of building relationships with both internal and external resources
