General Manager

Our client, an importing, processing, and distribution produce company with a global presence is seeking a General Manager to join their team in Halton Region.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, The General Manager will have oversight of two warehouse operations including Shipping/Receiving, Production, Processing, Quality Control, Food Safety, and Maintenance. The incumbent must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and understand complex quality and regulatory systems and environments.

The General Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Align activities between Quality, Production and Food Safety.
• Recruit, train and develop high performing employees through development and mentoring.
• Oversee all areas at each location and ensure operational requirements are being met.
• Establish Key Performance Indicators to measure performance and maximize results.
• Drive business growth by implementing best practices.
• Manage resources effectively and in conjunction with warehouse operations managers, ensure proper workflow delegation.
• Create and develop organizational strategic goals by identifying opportunities and evaluating market trends.
• Special projects as required.
• Regularly visit all areas of the business and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Oversee daily operations and business planning.
• Develop succession plans and establish contingency plans to ensure continued workflow.
• Utilize performance management and work with Human Resources to train, develop and coach employees and managers.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety and food safety requirements.
• Act as a change agent and drive objectives.
• Drive business results by developing and analyzing production and performance reports and present findings to leadership.
• Drive ongoing operational efficiency activities.

Qualifications:

• Ability to think analytically and execute.
• 7+ years of operational and business management experience in a highly regulated environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Detail oriented and results driven.
• Proven track record of inspiring change with all levels of employees.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office products.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to handle conflicts with tact and diplomacy.
• Degree or Diploma in Business, Operations or related is an asset.
