Location: On-Site (US-Walnut Creek, CA, or Canada- Guelph, Ontario)
Position Summary:
The Sr. Commercial Manager will play a critical role in our rapidly growing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) team and our expansion within the Global markets (North America, United Kingdom, LATM, EMEA, Japan, Korea, and APAC). The Sr. Commercial Manager will own and lead the RFP & competitive bid processes, the negotiation of contracts with contractors & suppliers, conduct cost analysis, and making strategic product decisions for projects ranging in scope and complexity for assigned projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the RFP response and competitive bid processes for projects globally, analyzing commercial and legal aspects of Customer RFP’s to develop a competitive submission to continue to grow the execution pipeline.
- Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained.
- Lead the Customer and sub-contractor contract negotiation phase for equipment, services, and EPC contracts by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
- Provide contract support to the Project’s team during contract execution.
- Responsible for bid analysis and modeling to support the strategic procurement process.
- Interacts with external parties including Customers, vendors, and potential suppliers.
- Actively identify opportunities to improve business processes and support the implementation of such.
- Work with supply chain to capture competitive intelligence and generate insights on supply chain and BESS landscape.
- Develop key requirements for RFP’s to subcontractors and evaluate the bid results.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience in partnering with internal and external stakeholders to optimize a response and the decision-making process.
- Ability to take critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure.
- Strong “intrapreneurial" mindset for process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex activities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven leadership skills in virtual project teams.
- Proficient at aggregating and understanding and responding to requirements and information as part of the RFP process.
- Commercial contract negotiation and RFPs management experience for equipment supply in the energy sector. – Required.
- Dedicated to details while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
- Enthusiasm for working with Customers and suppliers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce.
- Bachelor’s degree in either Business, Engineering, Management, Finance, or Economics or related field degree.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations
- Fluent in English in speaking and writing.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during negotiation periods.
