Director Treasury Operations – Transformation & Change Management
North America (NA) Treasury Operations is recruiting a Director, Treasury Operations & Transformation to assist in driving the transformation of NA Treasury Operations at Manulife. Under the guidance of the AVP, Treasury Operations & Transformation, the Director will be responsible to identify opportunities to streamline, centralize, consolidate, eliminate, and automate business processes and controls. The Director will solve business problems, build improved processing capabilities, create efficiencies in the processes while aligning with internal and external regulatory and compliance requirements, and accounting requirements to achieve Manulife’s strategic priorities of delivering cost efficiencies, managing with resiliency, and becoming a digital customer centric organization.
The Director will also be responsible to ensure the control environment (including related accounting) is maintained throughout any strategic development or business process re-engineering initiatives and to ensure that compliance with policies and procedures are fully maintained.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with leaders and cross-functional business partners to identify change and capabilities to meet future state, regulatory compliance while leveraging technology and digitization tools
  • Act as a subject matter expert in treasury operations processes and systems to enhance and identify continuous improvement opportunities to implement viable solutions enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of collection and disbursement processes to safeguard the company’s cash through the design and implementation of technology solutions
  • Accountable for the development and delivery of training for new/modified processes and system features including procedures, guides, and presentations
  • Engage change initiators (business, operations, IT partners, project teams) for transformational programs/initiatives to integrate change management tools to develop processes that track progress, identify, and address changes issues ensuring senior leadership is updated on progress
  • Provide leadership in the analysis of feasibility and impact of business processes and systems, identifying and developing change management value stream analysis of current and future processes including impacts on business, operational processes, and system features
  • Implement tools for measuring success of change through key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics
  • Owns the full-life cycle of root cause analysis including identification of areas for process improvement and business transformation through data analysis, process mapping and stakeholder engagement
  • Be the Change Agent for Treasury Operations ensuring proper change management is in place for NA Treasury Operations transitions from current to the target state
  • Apply transformational leadership with responsibility to manage, coach and mentor staff within the Treasury Operations team, ensuring staff performance is aligned with Manulife’s values
  • Support the development of workforce and workplace plans in support of strategy
  • Partner with key project management leaders internal and external to Treasury Operations
  • Identify and ensure the application best practices to build transformation and change practitioner competencies with appropriate integration and deployment of key strategies aligned with internal frameworks, methodologies, and overarching plans
  • Development and implementation of near and long-term roadmap for strategy realization with a focus on processes and change management ensuring programs/projects are aligned with overall Treasury Operations transformation strategy, key results, and core competencies
  • Lead the end-to-end (E2E) business process re-engineering activities across all North America Treasury Operations processes (cash operations, governance, compliance & controls) including process and controls performed by offshore Treasury Operations team
Qualifications
  • Executing with Excellence – strong results orientation with the ability to oversee the translation of theories and best practices into practical, results-based solutions, alignment to priorities that adds measurable value to the organization
  • Change Champion – demonstrated ability to design, develop and champion the adoption of organizational change
  • Experience in delivering complex projects involving system implementation and business process re-design
  • Experience in process re-engineering and change management
  • 7+ years of experience with progressive levels of responsibility in the financial service industry with experience in treasury, banking, or project/transformation office
  • Superior communication skills with an ability to share and synthesize knowledge
  • Programming / coding skills (e.g., SQL, SAS), experience with Power platform, Power BI, Alteryx (asset)
  • People management and leadership experience (full-time and contingent staff)
  • A Professional designation/certification in Treasury, Accounting, Project Management, Business Analysis, Change Management, Process Improvement
  • A proven experienced team leader with strong influencing skills to drive change and decision making
  • Experience in creating and rolling out transformative processes
  • Proficiency in MS Suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel (including macros and power query), Visio (MS Project is an asset)
  • Ability and experience in interacting (presenting, facilitation, decision-making) with senior level management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between
$100,500.00 CAD - $180,900.00 CAD
