Job Description
Role impact:


Reporting to the Director Operations, Office this role’s mandate is to lead, execute, monitor, track, review and advise/recommend on capital projects for property operations. To provide technical and management functions throughout the design, pre-construction, construction, and post construction phases of multi-disciplinary projects. This role will liaise with other internal departments and properties, outside consultants and contractors as well as assist the Director, Operations, Office in leading cross-functional teams on various aspects of construction projects. To ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. To arbitrate, negotiate and advise internally and externally including with government agencies. To protect the company’s contractual position and ensure finished project meets contracted standards.


What you will deliver:


  • Complies with company’s national procurement and property technology standards, policies, and procedures
  • Stays current on construction and related technologies
  • Ability to support projects at multiple properties (including traveling to these properties) in different regions of Canada
  • Ability to lead projects supporting various internal stakeholders (i.e., Design & Technology, Operations, etc.) managing technical projects that may involve Electrical, HVAC/Mechanical, Plumbing and IT disciplines, in addition, other projects as required from time-to-time i.e., office washroom, lobby and corridor renovations as well as return-to-base projects.
  • Works with the consultants to negotiate credits and/or extras for revised scope of work and to assist with implementing a value engineering process when necessary
  • Reviews consultants’ reports, project documents, correspondence, leases, and all project invoices for payment approval.
  • Prepares project status reports, as required, or directed
  • Supports corporate internal audit processes
  • Prepares business case/budget/schedules, when required
  • Organizes meetings and meets with contractors/consultants to review scope of contract and impact of alternatives in reducing time and costs
  • Lead projects from feasibility, design, RFP, and business case development through to completion with a high degree of autonomy using CF's project delivery model.
  • Monitors scheduled events, project milestones and submission of required information
  • Schedules activities for completion of projects and works on a day-to-day basis to handle unexpected requests and deadlines
  • Assists with the selection of consultants/contractors
  • Assist with the development of capital planning as required
  • Is familiar with, understands and applies company policies and procedures, federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations (i.e. Health and Safety, Environmental)

What you need to succeed:


  • Undergraduate degree ideally in Engineering, Architecture or Design & Construction, or Construction/Project Management Training/Certification, or Technical Diploma in similar disciplines combined with relevant experience
  • Knowledge of one or more: office, retail and residential real estate industries and related technologies
  • French Communication (Verbal, Writing) an asset
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet or Primavera
  • Have managed a variety of projects. At a minimum, technology upgrade/installation, building system upgrades, demolition activities, space build outs (multi-disciplined project installing space finishings), delivering projects in and around occupied premises and infrastructure projects which involves electrical, HVAC/mechanical and plumbing.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant project management experience, preferably in one of the following areas: construction (both field and office), real estate development, architecture or other engineering disciplines
  • Strong working knowledge of the building code and industry related technology
  • LEED and/or PMP accreditation would be an asset
