The Role:
Espresso is seeking a hard-working, detail oriented, energetic individual to join their finance team as Director, Fund Operations in Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the most active investors in North America’s growing technology sector.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly board packages and KPI dashboards
- Oversee fund operations team to ensure operational accuracy, efficiency and timeliness
- Oversee and monitor lender compliance and reporting requirements
- Review monthly NAVs and quarterly financial statements for multiple funds, prepared by the fund administrator
- Regular reporting to senior management on treasury positions, including coordination across the organization to determine anticipated sources and uses of capital
- Liaise with fund administrators ensuring ongoing and ad hoc deliverables for investors or other stakeholders are delivered accurately and on a timely basis
- Manage foreign exchange hedging strategy and risk management
- Coordinate with the funds’ external auditors and administrator relating to the production of periodic Financial Statements (IFRS) for distribution to investors and other stakeholders, including regulators
- Review annual tax filings and regulatory compliance filings
- Review performance analysis including portfolio return waterfalls, investor and fund-level IRR's, and monthly investor collaterals
Requirements:
- CPA designation
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Experience in fund accounting, foreign exchange hedging, and tax compliance is considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels within and outside the organization
- Strong ability to delegate and manage heavy workloads for both the team and individual
- Strong MS Excel / Google Sheets knowledge
- 8+ years of experience working in a similar position, such as an alternative asset manager or fund administrator servicing alternative investment funds
- ‘A-team’ player with demonstrated leadership ability and initiative
