The Opportunity

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking a Web Coordinator with fantastic digital communication skills to join our Engagement & Communications team as a Web Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager, Media, Issues, & External Affairs you will collaborate with the team to build, protect, and maintain the AER's reputation as we implement our 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. You will provide consultation on web design best practices, manage web content updates, perform light graphic design work, and ensure timely delivery of the AER's reporting and data. Working closely with the Web Specialist and the broader Media, Issues and External Affairs team, you will play a crucial part in promoting AER's mandate of responsible energy development in Alberta.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Support the Web Specialist on web-based projects
• Create and edit content within Drupal CMS, including graphics, videos, and documents for digital and social media platforms
• Collaborate with the Web Specialist and Engagement and Communications team to provide online and digital expertise, adhering to AER standards and brand
• Conduct research on digital best practices for enhanced engagement and communication
• Monitor site performance, optimize search engine ranking, and improve user engagement
• Foster positive relationships with internal clients, understanding their web needs, and executing digital content strategies

What we’re looking for in you:

• Ability to successfully manage multiple requests and projects to achieve deadlines, both independently and as a member of a team
• Skilled with content management systems, web programming languages, web technology, and operating systems
• Skilled with graphic design software including Adobe Suite of products
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Computer Science, Digital Communications, Information or Communications Technologies with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of progressive digital/online communications experience
• Ability to code and maintain web properties built within Drupal and an understanding of the Azure Cloud environment are assets
• Skilled in web analytics, tools, and reporting, online marketing, and social media
