The Content Coordinator will be a vital member of the Marketing team and use their writing, digital and creative skills to illustrate the impact of IDRF's humanitarian work, which improves the lives of communities across the globe and throughout Canada. Reporting to the Fund Development Director, working alongside our Marketing Manager and often in collaboration with our Programs Department and Giving & Impact team, the successful candidate will produce outstanding written content and develop creative engagement for our current and potential donors. A primary responsibility of this role is to develop core messaging and narratives to bring our organizational vision and priorities to life through storytelling and encouraging people to give.
Responsibilities
Content Development
- Develop internal communications for staff and key stakeholders.
- Create thoughtful content for the website, email bulletins, social media, and advertising.
- Edit and proofread new content before publication.
- Maintain and update content on the website to optimize SEO, and implement lead generation strategies.
- Compose and produce content for all social media platforms, and generally for fundraising campaigns, reports, and specialized donor content.
- Developing content ideas and communication strategies in coordination with the Marketing Manager and other departments.
- Creatively summarizing impact numbers and activities into reports for donors,and other organizations.
- Produce engaging content that builds trust and accurately communicates our humanitarian work, impact, and organizational values.
Digital Marketing
- Coordinate and handle all day-to-day social media content and messaging.
- Set goals and track the progress of the organization's social platforms to improve our brand awareness.
- Expand IDRF's online presence to reach larger audiences in the digital space.
- Execute the social media strategy and be at the forefront of social media news, updates, and trends.
- Execute a marketing strategy to drive traffic to the website.
- Actively engage in social media conversations with followers and influencers. Create, observe and respond to all conversations in an engaging, creative, and personalized way.
- Strategically gather, develop, and distribute content across social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Integrate all channels of marketing (social media, SEO, content marketing, email, print, and digital advertising) in collaboration with the Programs team.
- Maintain content calendar for social media, influencer, brand, and email marketing channels.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment.
- Analytical skills that allow for understanding and drawing key implications from various Digital Marketing KPI measurement tools.
- Commitment to IDRF's mission and values.
- Excellent time-management skills, organized and task-oriented, with an ability to respond in a timely fashion to donor inquiries and team communications.
- Understanding inclusive fundraising and accessibility practices is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of content management software, including Asana, WordPress, Photoshop, design, and minor video editing strongly desired.
- A strong understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) with enthusiasm for learning about newer platforms (TikTok, Youtube Shorts) to develop opportunities to engage with online communities.
- Ability to work independently using strong initiative.
- 3+ years' writing experience, preferably working for NGOs, blogs, news organizations, magazines, or other publications.
- Ability to work as part of a fundraising team.
- A results-driven focus that motivates you to produce content that’s not only enjoyable but also supports team KPIs like lead and revenue generation.
- Experience in graphic design is an asset.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills. Must have the ability to identify tone and style for effective messaging for diverse audiences, with attention to detail, phrasing, and word choice.
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or previous experience in a communications or social media role.
