CTV News is looking for a Social Content Coordinator to produce content for its digital and social platforms and third-party channels, working alongside talent in the newsroom.
Working as part of the CTVNews.ca team, you will conceive, pitch, develop, edit and package engaging and shareable social posts on a daily basis, including text, images, videos and graphics.
In this role you will help tell stories that are important to Canadians on all platforms.
You will also work with newsroom journalists to vet, edit, and optimize their content for digital platforms including the website, app, social media, newsletters and other third-party platforms with the goal of expanding the reach of their journalism.
The successful candidate will have daily newsroom experience, excellent news judgment and an instinct for what works on digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with editorial teams, including digital content editors, graphics, National News to develop content that is optimized for social platforms
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Use analytics tools to track performance of initiatives, build reports and present key findings to stakeholders
• Keeping on top of trends and latest digital innovations
• Use tools such as our content management systems and other social media creator studios as needed
• Attend regular meetings and planning sessions and brainstorm content ideas and campaign ideas for daily news events but also bigger news events, taking those ideas from conception to execution
• Develop strategy specific to each platform, in support of talent in the newsroom, across multiple platforms
• Use analytics tools to identify real-time content opportunities and react to trending topics and content on social media, whether it is creating new content or resocialling archival or evergreen material
• Maintaining an editorial calendar for content
• Staying on top of community management, engaging and responding to audiences all while upholding our policy guide

Qualifications

• Degree in Journalism
• Demonstrated ability to think visually when crafting a story
• Excellent writing and editing skills, plus advanced knowledge of CP Style Guide
• Exceptional computer skills and familiarity with Content Management Systems and news gathering systems
• Demonstrated ability to originate coverage on developing stories including popular trends and features
• Superior organization, communication and time-management skills
• At least 5 years’ online experience
