CARBON & BIODIVERSITY RESEARCH COORDINATOR
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Knowledge and Research Manager, Lands and Resources Department, Mushkegowuk Council, this position is responsible for coordinating the Omushkego Carbon and Biodiversity project. The successful candidate will work closely with community members, staff, universities, and external stakeholders to implement carbon and biodiversity research projects in a way that supports the Council’s goals of sustainable development and land stewardship.
REQUIREMENTS
·A science degree in a related field (e.g., environmental science, natural resource management, Indigenous studies). Specialization in cold climate wetland ecology is advantageous.
·Experience coordinating research projects that support conservation or land stewardship activities, preferably with Indigenous communities or organizations.
·Experience working with Indigenous knowledge and scientific research methodologies.
·Experience conducting fieldwork, preferably in remote locations.
·Demonstrated ability to coordinate research activities with multiple partners.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with community members, staff, universities, and external stakeholders.
·An ability to maintain positive relationships with partners and allies.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
·Knowledge of the Mushkegowuk Council and its unique cultural, environmental, and political context is an asset.
·Willing to travel
·Driver’s license required
·Able to speak Cree is a considerable asset
