Business Unit Finance Director

The position

As a Finance Director you will have overall responsibility for the financial operations of the business, including finance & accounting, compliance with statutory requirements, corporate governance and performing risk management by analysing the organisation's liabilities and investments.

You can work from home remotely for this role and we are looking for candidates based only in Canada.

• Be responsible for all accounting transactions, financial reporting, tax, and risk management.
• Lead the Finance function of one of the Garcia Group´s business units.
• Be a business partner to the Business Unit leader and the wider management team.,

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Management

• Responsible for intercompany transactions and transfer pricing documentation
• Support CEO and functional managers to develop clear business plans, priorities, and forecasts in line with +/- 5% forecast accuracy targets.
• Accountable for project accounting and controlling.
• Monitor and enforce Key Performance Indicators (KPI) * Manage 'Quarterly Strategic Review' (QSR) process, using extensive Excel modelling, pipeline and costs analysis to prepare a robust forecast
• * Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC (return on invested capital), working capital and/or growth performance. Finance & Reporting
• Responsible for Risk Management process review, effective internal controls, policy standardization and process improvements.
• Provide strategic financial leadership on issues affecting the business
• Oversee and improve effective administration processes and systems for company records and contracts.
• Apply best practices to processes, people, and systems to affect revenue, profitability and cash-flow, to improve operating efficiency and performance.
• Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions.
• Accountable for accurate and timely monthly/quarterly consolidated financial reporting to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting and requirements in accordance with IFRS.
• Lead and implement introduction of new systems and processes such as new financial systems, expense management and other reporting systems.
• Ensure execution of action points from the Quarterly Strategic Review process Governance & Risk
• Monitor and input on key metrics of individual customer contracts.
• Lead a finance team that delivers excellent pro-active service to its stakeholders.

Legal

• Work closely with all functional leads to ensure projects bids and contract terms, financial and otherwise, adhere to corporate parameters.
• Coordinate all legal activities with Group Finance

Skills & Competencies

• Proven track record of progressive financial experience in a leadership role and people management
• Ability to handle a demanding work schedule and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
• Software industry experience preferable
• Proven experience as DIRECTOR OF FINANCE or similar role
• Humility, curiosity, and ability to investigate and learn new domains and technologies
• Team player and outstanding ability to work with and through others
• Hand-on contributor in all aspects of the finance function
• Ability to travel internationally post COVID-19 (up to 25%)
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and presentation) with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels
• Experience in an international/global business, handling multiple stakeholders and currencies an asset
• Professional Accounting Designation is required (CPA or equivalent)
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS
• Works collaboratively by consulting with employees, colleagues, partners, clients, users, and stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills in combination with strategic, action-oriented mindset
