Senior Finance Business Partner/ Project Accountant

This position will act as the Finance Business Partner to our client. This is a new role in a fast growing business which has just expanded into Canada as a second home market. It is imperative the candidate for this role is able to provide thought leadership and financial support at a senior level as they will be a trusted advisor in Canada for finance matters. The role will report to the Finance Director based in the UK but will have local responsibility for supporting the management team within the Canadian production facility in Moncton. This role will also liaise with the Executive Vice President to support the Land systems element of the Canadian business plan and will need to work collaboratively with the shared services team, and particularly the Vice President, Finance & Corporate Services based in Abbotsford in order to fully perform in role.

The Finance Business partner will provide expert strategic and financial advice to departments to enable sound decision making.

They will be responsible for:

• Other duties as assigned by the Finance Director
• Contribute to the planning process for the production facility to aid financial understanding by management of the impact of decision making around resourcing
• Work closely with the shared service team who hold responsibility for reporting to ensure month end and reporting requirements are met on a timely basis
• Supporting / coordinating and executing the Canadian business plan, budget, and forecasts for the business.
• Support and challenge bid activity to ensure bid work aligns with the company strategy
• Support, analyse and prepare business cases for future growth and investments as appropriate Prepare ad hoc reports and presentations as required by the business; lead ad hoc projects as they arise.
• Understanding operational drivers and how these impact financial performance
• Project accounting for key programmes including monitoring and managing revenue recognition, preparing analysis to support cost control and supporting the Programme Director with risk management
• Analysing, monitoring and reporting the key financial metrics and KPIs to finance leadership on a monthly basis including full variance analysis

The candidate will require:

• Proven experience working collaboratively across multiple internal/external stakeholders and ability to influence others effectively
• Good organisational skills and ability to operate effectively under pressure whilst working across multiple projects at the same time
• Professional Designation (CA, CMA, CGA).
• Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Superb analytical skills with the ability to drive efficiency from systems to reduce manual workload
• Fantastic communication skills and proven experience working collaboratively across multiple internal/external stakeholders and ability to influence others effectively
• Significant professional experience in Finance with a background in business partnering
