Analyst Portage Ventures Jobs

Position Overview:

We are currently looking for an individual who is highly analytical and deeply passionate about fintech to join our Ventures team in Toronto as an Analyst. This person will play a pivotal role in supporting breakthrough companies in fintech.

Your Responsibilities:

• Conduct ad-hoc analysis (e.g., market sizing, analyzing survey data, pricing analysis, web analytics data)
• Develop a deep understanding of the performance of our portfolio companies, including monitoring of key performance indicators and how they trend over time
• Develop investment theses on select themes and opportunities
• Work with our portfolio companies to support them on strategic initiatives
• Conduct financial, market and company diligence on new potential investments
• Support research, analysis and evaluation of investment opportunities, including coordination of third parties engaged in the due diligence process

Experience and Qualifications:

• Organized with a high attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment where things change constantly
• Minimum 1 year of experience in investment banking and/or consulting
• Self-starter – able to take initiative, prioritize and work independently
• Humble - puts the team first and thrives in a collaborative work environment
• Strong empathy for our founders
• Demonstrated analytical excellence
• A strong passion and /or interest in financial services and technology
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize thoughts on companies and markets succinctly, confident in expressing a view while willing to listen to others
• Bachelor degree in quantitative discipline (computer Science, engineering, etc.)
