Accounting Associate Jobs

You will apply professional accounting theories, policies and practices to credit analysis, cost and inventory control, cash flow and accounts receivable functions within the Richmond branch of Layfield Canada Ltd. and you will also assist and recommend changes to policies and procedures for cash handling within departments and divisions and work with others in all departments to assist, as needed, with issues that arise in the department and/or with external departments and divisions.

You will report to the Divisional Accounting Manager based in British Columbia, Canada.

Position Overview

Responsible for duties associated with Credit and collections, revenue identification, cost analysis reporting, and reconciliation of CAD, USD customer cash and credit accounts through the SYSPRO reporting system and BMO on-line banking portal.

A Sample of the Daily Duties

Ø Analyse and Report movement of sales, profits, and cost. Note any abnormal changes in revenue and profit and propose solutions to accounting manager to rectify any issues identified.

Ø Prepare Sales Order profitability report and distribute to sales department, accounting manager and VP Flexible Packaging.

Ø Perform inventory cost and quantity adjustments to facilitate shipping and accurate gross profit margin

Ø Perform the day-to-day processing of revenue receipts to ensure that they are recorded and maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.

Ø In charge of all intercompany sales between Flexible Films Canada and Flexible Films USA.

Some of the Weekly Duties

Ø Ad hoc analyses, tasks, and reconciliations, as well as other duties as may be required.

Ø Monitor and control intercompany sales process between Canada and US to assure all required steps are followed

Ø Prepare and send out weekly booking report

Ø Prepare and send out collection report

An Overview of the Semi-monthly Activities

o Prepare EDC report for Layfield Canada US Dollar accounts

o Prepare British Columbia Provincial Sales Tax (PST) report

o Prepare and submit Monthly Survey of Manufacturing for Layfied Packaging to Statistics Canada.

o Prepare and submit Annual Survey of Manufacturing and Logging Industries

o Run sales reports, prepare internal commission reports for Layfield Flexible packaging

o Prepare Commission schedule for external agents.

o Run GRN report and work with Accounts Payable to ensure accuracy by matching supplier invoices with GRN entries and making adjustment to GRN’s as needed.

o Re-value Inventory, and update standard costs of resin as required by Supply Chain

o Process mid-month general ledger rollover for Layfield Canada Ltd

o Update and prepare amortization schedule for printing press cylinders; create journal entries at month end.

o Post IBT in Syspro

o Prepare, check and reconcile inter-company transactions.

o Process month-end general ledger rollover for Layfield Canada Ltd

o Run aged inventory report.

Ø Quarterly and Year-end Projects

o Assist Divisional accounting manager and divisional accountant with sales and financial budget preparation.

o Prepare year-end schedules and reports as required by external auditors

o Support Flexible Film Canada and US audit
