Job Description
We are looking for a key contributor to the management and growth of our wealth management business. We are looking for a self-motivated professional to work as Accounting Technician in our Toronto office.

In this challenging position you will use your accounting administration background and proficiency in key software as well as your analytical and organizational skills to help service our internal clients daily.


Job Overview


As Accounting Technician your focus will be on providing assistance to the Accounting Team (approximately 2 days a week) (including tax season coordination and support for a period of 6 weeks) as well as providing support to the Financial Planning team on an ongoing basis (approximately 3 days a week).


Responsibilities


  • Preparing Net Worth statements and Investment Portfolio Detail schedules to assist planners
  • Preparing T4 and T5 summary and supplementary slips
  • Assisting Financial Planner with client management which may include booking meetings, saving emails, updating internal tracking sheets, sending DocuSign emails as needed
  • Downloading and reviewing CRA Notices of Assessment and preparing documentation to submit to CRA to respond to Requests for Information
  • Uploading/downloading client documents and reports to SmartVault software
  • Preparing schedules to calculate weighted average cost base of concentrated securities for tax purposes
  • Preparing tax estimates and coordinating recommendations for quarterly instalments with the accountants and planners
  • Tax Season scanning, collating, and assistance with other administrative tasks which may arise
  • Printing reports from NDEX and printing from Naviplan software as needed
  • Inputting personal tax returns in line with level of expertise
  • Assistance/facilitation with downloading/distributing client tax slips to Accounting/Tax teams
  • Occasional administrative overflow from other departments as availability permits


Competencies


  • Comprehensive oral and written communication skills with an ability to produce concise clear reports, letters and emails and to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Strong organizational skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to timely conclusion; Self-starter and team player, able to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Outlook
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and propose solutions



Education And Experience


  • Post-secondary education would be an asset, preferably in business and or accounting
  • Experience working with DocuSign, SmartVault, and Taxprep an asset
  • Experience as a Tax Assistant or Financial Planning Assistant


Remuneration

  • $55,000-$65,000 + bonus (5% of salary)
