Accounting Technician
Wastech Services, a subsidiary of the Belkorp Group of Companies, is an established BC company with a long-standing history of making a positive impact in the environmental sector. Since 1989, Wastech has operated environmental businesses across BC focusing on waste management and initiatives related to greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy. We operate the Campbell Hill Landfill in Cache Creek, BC and arealsoresponsible for the post closure care of the Cache Creek Landfill.
We are looking to add a permanent, full-time Accounting Technician to our team.This position will report to the Operations Controller and will be based out of our head office in Kamloops, BC.The Accounting Technician will be responsible for accurate and efficient administration of accounts payable, accounts receivable and other accounting duties and possess strong organizational and communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable
- Reconcile vendor balances to transaction history;
- Prepare vendor EFT and wire payments;
- Support internal team members with the use of the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Prepare credit applications for new vendors;
- Process invoices by matching them against purchase orders and/or other receiving documents and following up on discrepancies;
- Validate vendor banking information for electronic payment;
- Ensure purchasing limits are adhered to per the company purchasing policy;
- Process purchase requisitions for purchase order generation;
Accounts Receivable
- Calculate and generate monthly customer invoices;
- Record customer payments.
Examples of other duties
- Key Performance Indicators;
- Account reconciliations;
- Procedure and Process documentation.
- Bank reconciliations (CAD and USD);
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Service oriented with the ability to build and maintain trusted working relationships;
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or accounting;
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel;
- Committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and requests, while exhibiting time-management, organizational, and prioritization skills;
