Technology Director, Battery Development

Solid UltraBattery Inc. (SUB) is a Canadian company founded in 2019, with a research lab and development facility located in Guelph, Ontario. SUB is owned and operated by Volt Carbon Technologies Inc., a carbon sciences research and development facility.

As a new company with great potential this is a wonderful opportunity for a seasoned leader in the battery technology field to grow with the company. We anticipate a year of growth and expansion and are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in the development of lithium-ion battery technology.

Solid UltraBattery is a high-tech enterprise focusing on R&D, design, production of low cost, high energy and safe solid-state lithium-ion batteries for a number of industry applications. SUB's mission is to develop a solid electrolyte battery that far exceeds the performance of today's leading battery technology. If you share a passion for clean energy technology and have experience in this field, along with a proven track record for leading an R & D team, for the purposes of commercialization, this is the role for you.

This leadership role is full-time permanent working out of the Guelph R & D facility, reporting to the CEO. If you possess a Master's or PhD in a field related to battery development sciences, such as Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences Engineering or similar, along with a proven track record in the field of battery development exemplified by published research and patents in the field, you will succeed in this role. Individuals must have leadership in financial management, team management, an understanding of taking research to commercialization and a proven track record of 10+ working years in a scientific laboratory environment.

In this role you will lead the technology of lithium-ion battery research and fabrication. You will be tasked with building your research team and leading the team to commercialization. You will also support the CEO with external stakeholders from a scientific perspective.

To be eligible you must be willing to work full time on site in Guelph, be eligible to work in Canada, possess a Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering or similar, have 10+ years of scientific R & D experience in battery development sciences and a proven track record of leadership.
