Sr. Director, Technology & Innovation

The Senior Director, Product Development (SD-PD) will report to the SVP, Marketing and Business Development, leading the Product Development Profit and Loss (P&L) centre. The SD-PD will be responsible for leading Engineering, Procurement and Finance teams for the development of new technologies and innovations to propel our CANDU business forward.
This role will require leadership of all project team members, including engineering, procurement, finance, and includes interfacing with key external stakeholders. A senior director is expected to have significant experience in CANDU reactor engineering and project execution methodology including an understanding of engineering requirements, procurement, financial operations, and project management principles. Leading multidisciplinary teams is an equally important skill.
Another pillar of this role is the ability to build relationships with other P&L’s, MBD and engineering teams to identify, develop, and market to clients the technology and innovation products completed under the P&L.
Your role within the team

• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for monitoring and controlling budget and schedule and reporting on progress once the PD initiative is approved.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for developing all scopes and deliverable definitions in compliance with the company’s strategic plan.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for coordinating and facilitating working groups that consist of MBD, Engineering staff, and P&L leads to collaborate in exploring and bringing innovative products to our clients to enhance their operations.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for assisting in developing the input for research tax credits.
• The Senior Director, PD shall ensure that all technology and innovation initiatives are performed in accordance with corporate standards of ethical compliance, cyber-security, import-export regulations, intellectual property protections and security clearance protocols.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for ensuring that all investments in innovation meet the required criteria (i.e., business case) with a clear path to market or strategic value to the business to allow advancement of work.
• The Senior Director, Product Development shall lead by example the P&L, through day-to-day exhibition of SNC-Lavalin’s core values: Safety, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for presenting updates to Senior Leadership.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for ensuring that all completed technologies and innovations meet the quality assurance requirements.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for ensuring resource availability to complete the approved activities.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for ensuring that information to satisfy finance requests are provided and monthly updates on assets are completed.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for ensuring the digital technology innovation development, led by the Director, Digital Innovation meets the company’s strategic plan.
• The Senior Director, PD is responsible for aligning and accessing resources (budget and staff) for the PD program definition and execution.
• The Senior Director, PD shall strategically plan, then execute, a program to solicit ideas and then execute development of products and technology to grow the CANDU business.

• A working knowledge of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry
