Job Overview

The role of the Karate Nova Scotia (KNS) Technical Outreach Director will be to work closely with the KNS Provincial Coach, Administrative Staff, Technical Administrative Director and Board of Directors to assist in the development of Karate in Nova Scotia, including competitive Karate that will continue to make Nova Scotia successful on the National and International stages.

The Technical Outreach Director will be chiefly responsible for interacting with the member dojos of KNS to increase the base of competitive Karate athletes and to increase the number of athletes participating in Karate across Nova Scotia. The work that the Technical Outreach Director will undertake will be in accordance with the results from the Sport Development Tool funding model developed by Sport Nova Scotia, Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic, and the Province of Nova Scotia. The Technical Outreach Director will play a large role in helping KNS increase scores in the Participation, Coaching and Officiating, and Excellence pillars of the Sport Development Tool.

Responsibilities

The Technical Outreach Director will be responsible for the following areas:

• Attend monthly TLEP meetings
• Complete monthly reports for KNS board
• Connect with non-member dojos
• Manage relevant grant / program fund
• Conduct yearly dojo visits with every KNS member dojo
• Facilitate training clinics (kata and kumite)
• Work on relevant PSO documents
• Assist with any KC planning
• Facilitate programs and projects to increase participation in Karate
• Assist with KNS tournaments and events
• Assist with LTAD documentation

Required Qualifications

• Have a Proven sport management and administrative experience
• Have an in depth understanding of the WKF rules of Competition
• Have an in depth understanding of the Canadian Long-Term Athlete Development Model
• Have a proven track record working with developing Karate athletes and coaches
• Be NCCP Comp/Dev certified
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate or plan to acquire this in next three months;
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check;
• Have adequate experience in Sport Karate as either a competitor and or coach

Assets (not Required)

• Have a university degree with a physical education major or minor
• Hold a degree or diploma in Kinesiology
