Supervisor-Finishing Jobs

The Supervisor – Finishing will work closely with the department leaders to oversee the daily activities necessary to achieve our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) for the Metal-Enclosed Paint Line and Grinding Operation. The successful candidate will supervise a team consisting of hourly team members working the day shift (Monday - Thursday; 6am - 4pm). The supervisor will provide day-to-day work direction for the team, focused on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolving operational decisions. The supervisor will promote a safety culture, taking all reasonable precautions to protect team members from illness or injury at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure policies, procedures, practices are understood and followed.
• Lead and provide guidance to team members of the department.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives on current systems and processes to solve reoccurring issues and improve on the effectiveness of the team.
• Work closely with other departments to achieve objectives.
• Make adjustments or enhancements to systems and processes to improve effectiveness of team.
• Plan, schedule, and assign daily tasks to the team and set day-to-day objectives to achieve operational targets.
• Initiate decisions related to hiring and performance management of team members, complete performance reviews.
• Assess training requirements to maintain a high quality of work.
• Ensure safe practices are being followed and safe conditions exist in the work area.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience working with powder coating systems and grinding process is preferred.
• 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role in a manufacturing environment.
• College diploma in operations management, process engineering, or equivalent experience of a minimum of three (3) years team lead / supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills

• Excellent attention to detail.
• Understanding of basic management approaches such as prioritizing work, equipment utilization, team development and coaching.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and ERP systems such as Oracle.
• Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing considered an asset.
• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Physical Effort

Normal or frequent moderate physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. Involves standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs.
