The Position:
Reporting to the Director of External Operations, the Finishing Site Supervisor is a full-time position working as an integral part of the site management team at our Fergus, Ontario site. The following is a list of the major responsibilities of the position:
- Assist in the approval of on-site purchase orders and completion forms;
- Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced including the assembly of a job site safety committee and the chairing of the required job site safety meetings;
- Assist in the preparation of the project schedule;
- Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses and assist in the preparation of the monthly cost forecasting summaries;
- Assist the Head Site Superintendent with all aspects of new home construction on site;
- Contact, schedule and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and utilities;
- Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists; and
- Review all upgrades, extras, change orders and colour charts for errors or omissions;
- Inform the Construction team and/or Project Managers of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant's design drawings;
- Such other duties as the Company may assign to the Employee from time to time (collectively referred to as the "Duties").
- Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis;
- Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control;
- Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required;
- Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings;
- Coordinate required municipal inspections with the Head Site Superintendent;
- Prepare production updates with direction from Head Site Superintendent;
Qualifications:
- Experience with Newstar considered an asset;
- Highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a dedication to high-quality workmanship;
- Proficient with MS Office;
- Extensive understanding of the construction workflow and knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, planning, and reading construction drawings;
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as an integral part of a team;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a high standard of professionalism and a customer service approach;
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to problem solve effectively and efficiently;
- 5+ years of Ontario residential construction experience;
- Commitment to site safety and creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment;
- This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver's licence as well as provide a driver abstract. The successful candidate will need to provide a driver abstract and proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence as a condition of employment.
