Finishing Carpenter Jobs

Strong organizational and planning skills with prioritizing and multitasking abilities to meet time sensitive deadlines

Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Finishing Superintendent role (residential high rise)

Post-secondary education (College or University) with a specialty in Construction, Engineering or Architecture.

Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act and the Ontario Building Code

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

A strong leader and problem-solver, with the ability to build respect and trust with subcontractors and team member

Estimating time requirements for project completion including customer needs, machine capabilities and resources

Thorough knowledge of materials/substrates used in a digital printing environment

Computer literate with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat Pro, MS Office

Knowledge of the digital, offset and/or large format printing process is an asset

Experience with pre-press software is an asset

Knowledge of Zund Cutter or Digital Cutting tables operation is an asset

Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.

Initiate decisions related to hiring and performance management of team members, complete performance reviews.

Understanding of basic management approaches such as prioritizing work, equipment utilization, team development and coaching.

Monitor supply levels and order through the Finishing Manager as needed

Operate Gluers according to work instructions and customer specifications

Assist Adjusters and other Operators in make ready and operation of equipment

Perform troubleshooting and minor maintenance on Finishing equipment regularly

Responsible for knowing Finishing lockout procedures

Complete quality checks to ensure only conforming product is being produced

Prepare the deficiency report of each unit and update the management weekly.

Provide direction to labourers and skilled trades’ people, inspect their work, and ensure they are completing tasks to a high-quality standard.

Identify and escalate potential issues to the Construction Manager in a timely manner

Monitor the performance of trades to ensure deficiencies are completed in a timely manner before proceeding.

Report to Superintendent on a daily basis to ensure schedule and quality are being met.

Attend daily morning meetings and provide input for trades.
