Human Services – Housing Services


Status: 1 Regular Full Time


Salary Range: $86,443 to $108,052 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton


Hours of Work: 35 hours per week


Who We Are


Come join the Housing Services team, where we lead service system planning and management of housing and homelessness programs and services to help people get and keep housing. We are passionately committed to ensuring stable, affordable, appropriate housing and supports in Peel.


The Role


In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, execution, communication and implementation of key housing analytics work including advanced analysis, modelling, insight generation, data integration and data management, in order to support operations, planning, and decision making. You will be applying your technical skills towards finding answers to questions that can inform new policy, programs, and advocacy, in order to alleviate our affordable housing crisis


What You Will Do In This Role


  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with other corporate groups to ensure Housing Services analytics solutions align with Enterprise Business Intelligence Strategy.
  • Guide the development of sophisticated data visualization, advanced web graphic technology and interactive tools to make large datasets coherent in order to better understand patterns and explain complex issues and results to decision-makers, partners and the general public.
  • Communicate with management and various stakeholders regarding findings, measurement reporting and evaluation of options.
  • Lead highly complex and specialized statistical analysis and problem-solving utilizing data from widely varied housing and homelessness programs and services.
  • Mine historical data to discover trends and patterns and develop algorithms to validate existing assumptions and processes.
  • Will contribute to establishing, maintaining, optimizing and maximizing return from specialized data analysis tools and purchased/subscription based data sets.
  • Implement divisional policies, standards, procedures and best practices (governance) with Housing Services impact in the following areas: information privacy, data integration, linkage of data sets, data warehousing, data quality, and data utilization.
  • Maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with key stakeholders such as senior management, IT staff and other key internal and external groups contributing to human services program areas.
  • Provide project management leadership in the design and delivery of assigned projects including developing and implementing full-scale project plans, determining project priorities/scope, project documentation and accountability for deliverables. Perform Administrator functions for specialized Housing Services data bases.
  • Monitor emerging industry trends and adjust governance, tools, advice and recommendations accordingly for all program and service responsibilities and champion change at the department level.


What The Role Requires


  • A University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Data Science related discipline combined with a minimum of 5 years direct relevant and extensive work experience.Combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to use a sophisticated blend of classical and advanced components like artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, databases, traditional statistics and graphics to present hidden relationships and patterns found within structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Advanced statistics, descriptive and predictive modeling experience utilizing statistical software packages such as R, SPSS, STATA, etc.


Skills/Abilities


  • Communication style is characterized by diplomacy, clarity and candour.
  • Proficient in use of MS office tools, in particular Excel. Skilled in Access use and creation of databases.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communicator, adept in the delivery of presentations as an S ubject Matter Expert (SME) , and as part of a dynamic team of highly skilled professionals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Skilled in generating decision trees, cluster analysis, text analytics, structural equation modeling and data visualization.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and the ability create custom visualizations using combinations of open source and commercial tools. (MS Power BI would be an asset).
  • Highly successful and experienced with supporting analytical projects and applied knowledge of project management methodology.
  • Expert knowledge of Bl concepts and data mining techniques e.g. Associations Discovery, Sequential Pattern Discovery, Classification, Clustering and Forecasting.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work mostly remote. You will be required to occasionally attend on-site meetings based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
