ARC Foundation is looking to fill a 25-30 hours/week one-year contract from July 2023 through July 2024. Reporting to the National Program Manager, SOGI 1 2 3, the SOGI 1 2 3 Lead –Alberta will lead the network Alberta SOGI Division Leads in participating School Divisions in and around the Edmonton area. The successful candidate will be based in the Edmonton area, serving as a remote team member of the head offices of ARC Foundation in Vancouver.
Position Type: 25-30 hours/week one-year term contract
Location: Alberta, reporting remotely to ARC Foundation’s Vancouver offices
Reports to: National Program Manager
Compensation Range: $32 to $38 per hour, 25-30 hours per week. A benefits package is also offered.

ARC Foundation was founded in 2007 to build Awareness, Respect and Capacity through education. ARC Foundation’s vision is a world where children and youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities live authentic lives. ARC Foundation is the registered charity behind SOGI 1 2 3, an inclusive education program that equips educators with tools and resources for supporting 2SLGBTQ+ students and creating safe and inclusive school environments for all students. ARC facilitates the delivery of SOGI 1 2 3 in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick and is working to further expand its services to other provinces.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
The SOGI 1 2 3 Lead - Alberta will manage the implementation of SOGI 1 2 3 programming including the SOGI Educator Network and resource development, alongside functions such as communications, reporting and evaluation. The SOGI 1 2 3 Lead–Alberta will work closely with the SOGI 1 2 3 program team, the broader ARC Foundation national team and the Alberta school divisions participating in the provincial SOGI Educator Network.
“WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING”
- Deliver the provincial SOGI 1 2 3 evaluation process, including surveys, interviews, analysis and reports.
- Facilitate the sharing of SOGI expertise across schools and divisions.
- Work with the National Program Manager to set provincial program strategy for Alberta.
- Prepare, monitor and deliver an annual operational plan to ensure timelines are met.
- Coordinate provincial reporting to ensure flow of information between the SOGI Educator Network, provincial SOGI 1 2 3 team and national ARC Foundation team.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work to expand SOGI 1 2 3 participation to more school divisions in the province.
- Provide guidance, coaching and issue resolution support to SOGI Division Leads.
- Lead the SOGI Educator Network, including communications, regional meetings and activities, maintaining engagement and ensuring the timely sharing of information.
- Support ARC Foundation’s fundraising activities, particularly those involving Alberta-focused initiatives.
- Work alongside ARC Foundation team members to develop and maintain strong relationships with provincial and local education and 2SLGBTQ+ community organizations.
- Work with education partners and subject matter experts to identify provincial trends and issues in SOGI-inclusive education.
- Support the peer-to-peer network’s development and delivery of content for SOGI Division Lead and SOGI School Lead presentations and training throughout the year.

- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior level leaders.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and in-field approach to building community capacity.
- A collaborative style which values connecting people, both in the community and within organizations.
- Experience and/or training in the K-12 Education sector an asset.
- Knowledgeable about the context, initiatives and/or programs pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity in Alberta.
- Bachelor’s degree and five or more years’ experience in complex program leadership, ideally in a not-for-profit environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also applicable.
- A strong interest in creating systemic change to support students of all sexual orientations and gender identities; preference may be given to those with lived experience within the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
- Confident working with a wide range of social groups.
THE FINER DETAILS
- The SOGI 1 2 3 Lead –Alberta must be based in Alberta, preferably in the Edmonton area, and will work as a remote employee of ARC Foundation’s head office in Vancouver, BC
- Some travel, both within Alberta and to the Vancouver head office will be expected.
- Expected start is mid-July 2023

NOTE: the position is designed to be approximately 25-30 hours per week. Some duties will require availability at specific times during the work week, and different times of the year may have higher and lower demand periods. Flexibility of work hours and approach are negotiable.
