This role is open to being 100% remote within Canada although our home office is in Toronto, Ontario. You will be required to travel to Toronto, Canada once per quarter for team and/or company events.

Who You'll Be Joining

You will be working with a small and dynamic group in People Operations, we’re looking for someone skilled with the payroll system Ultipro (UKG) who can help train new members as well as support the preparation for a new system integration coming within the next year.

Our ideal start date for this contract is July or August 2023.

How You'll Make An Impact

As a Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist you will be responsible for managing the full-cycle payroll process and for managing the Group Benefits program for 500+ employees across Canada, US, and the UK. You will review and process payroll in accordance with company and regulatory requirements for all employee groups, including processing new hires, employee changes, and terminations, tracking employee vacation, and processing ROEs. You will report to our Manager, Payroll & Benefits and take a team approach in managing the process.

You will work closely with the ecobee Finance Team, ensuring proper maintenance of employee data and further developing our payroll processes. You will administer our group health plans including enrolments, terminations, and changes to the plan. You will leverage your excellent communication skills to manage employee queries related to payroll and benefits. You will also support the Finance team with processing year-end reporting and tax forms (T4, RL1, W-2, etc.) and preparing ad-hoc reports, as required.

But it’s also so much more than that! We are looking for someone who can work cross-functionally between HR and Finance to review and recommend improvements to streamline processes and increase efficiencies. We are updating our HR/payroll system in the next year, so you will be a key part in making that transition smooth alongside other team members.

What You'll Bring To The Table

• You have or are pursuing the PCP or CPM designation
• Just so you know: The hired candidate will be required to complete a background & credit check
• You are eager to be the best at your craft and are always looking for new learning opportunities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take initiative and build strong relationships
• You exercise full discretion and confidentiality in an ethical and professional manner
• You have expert level knowledge with our current payroll platform (UKG - Ultipro).
• You always challenge yourself to improve upon the status quo
• Several years of Canadian and US payroll and benefits experience
• You pride yourself on having strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Bonus Points but not mandatory:

• Experience with UK payroll & or benefits
• You've been an administrator on the League platform for health spending accounts

Interview Process:

• A first-round virtual interview with a couple folks from the team– expect technical, behavioural and situational questions.
• A 30-minute phone/video call with a member of the recruitment team
• If your first-round interview goes well, you can expect a final interview video interview. For this interview we will provide you with the questions ahead of time so that you may structure your answers as they are long-answer questions that require some prep.
