Position function:Reporting to the Senior Manager, FP&A and will be the primary support role assisting in all areas of planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis for the business. Note this role may also be focused on supporting one or more global improvement initiatives on a near full-time basis for a temporary period.
Scope:The Financial Planning & Analysis function supports all areas of the business in planning, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis. Our objective is to provide exceptional customer service to our business partners.
Major Tasks and Duties:
- Perform post-mortem analysis on business cases and identify opportunities to improve processes
- Leverage business intelligence tools to develop dashboard reports and KPIs for all areas of the business
- Develop and complete annual plans and quarterly financial forecasts for assigned business units
- Support the analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), especially relating to financial metrics such as sales, margins, operating expenses and working capital
- Responsible for ad hoc financial analyses of customer, product, or service related issues and opportunities
- Prepare monthly presentations and financial reports for senior management
- Develop thorough understanding of key performance drivers and develop scorecards to track performance
- Provide financial support to the business units; business partners include direct interaction at the mid/seniormanagement level
- Analyze departmental performance to budget and prior year and prepare commentary for management
- Work with cross-functional businesses on initiatives and new project as applicable, including but not limited to profitability, productivity, etc. and discounted cash flow analyses
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Good prioritization and decision making skills and judgment to drive the right impact
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and learning agility
- Works well in a team environment
- Experience building and designing reports and dashboards within Microsoft PowerBI considered an asset.
- Strong business and financial acumen; able to link business requirements with financial objectives
- Problem solving and systemic thinking skills- critical analytics/ diagnosis; focus on continuous improvement
- Committed to continuous learning and providing and receiving candid feedback
- Prior distribution/logistics and/or consumer packaged goods industry experience required
- Technically savvy and has Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Well-organized and self-directed individual who is able to work with minimal amount of supervision and manage ambiguous situations
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in Business Administration, Finance/Accounting or Commerce
- Strong communication skills - clear written and verbal communication; know your audience and communicateaccordingly
- Strong quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a financial analyst role or above with progressive experience within a large complex organization
- Possesses an Accounting Designation (or near completion)
- Strong customer service focus; ability to relate to people at all levels and build trusted relationships
