Job Description

Fengate is seeking a Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join the Infrastructure team. The role will report to the Senior Manager, FP&A and work closely with other members of the Infrastructure Business (Value Creation & Asset Management team, Investments team and senior leadership).


The successful candidate will be required to develop a deep understanding of the infrastructure investments and be accountable for end-to-end financial forecasting, developing complex financial models, planning/ budgeting processes, operating plan variance analyses, monthly financial dashboard package, co-ordinating quarterly valuation processes, medium and long-term investor return analysis, and supporting key strategic projects across the portfolio.


The successful candidate should have strong financial modelling skills with experience completing complex analysis. This role will oversee staff in the performance of regular reporting processes (quarterly valuations, annual budgets, monthly financial dashboard package) and will be relied upon to manage and execute key strategic projects and complex analysis.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Continuous development and streamlining of processes and procedures
  • Responsible for reporting of investment performance against budget and key performance indicators, including preparation of regular financial performance package
  • Accountable for quarterly and annual valuation processes including management of external valuators
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic, financing and operating decisions
  • Ownership of budgets, projections, and financial analysis across a variety of assets
  • Liaise with Investor Relations team to prepare information packages for investors and answer questions as required
  • Lead the creation and development of robust financial models
  • Assist with due diligence and review of potential acquisitions as required
  • Oversee cash flow planning and identify opportunities to maximize investor returns


Desired Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate has 3 to 5 years’ experience in a related role, and is expected to bring a structured, collaborative, detail-oriented and proactive approach. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have strong commitment to deadlines and the team, and be process oriented with a high sense of ownership and strong integrity. The candidate should have a proven track record of exceptional performance with a strong commercial acumen and the ability to explain the story behind the numbers.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valuations and/or financial advisory services experience in a national accounting firm, bank or an investment firm with strong financial acumen
  • Experience with real assets is beneficial but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts in a simple and concise manner for presentation and discussions with senior management and other non-financial business leaders
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills
  • Deep understanding of investment risk factors
  • CPA, CFA, CBV, MBA or international equivalent preferred but not required
  • Ability to construct professional PowerPoint presentations and present to internal and external senior stakeholders

Location & Travel:

The position will be based out of the Oakville office. Fengate offers a Work-Flex policy where employees are allowed to work remotely up to 3 days per week.
