Financial Director Jobs

Our client, located in London ON, is in search of a Director of Finance to improve and monitor processes and policies in support of organizational goals. They are a Manufacturer of Engineered Products, primarily supplying the Defense industry.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Effectively work with other departments to resolve invoicing and receiving issues
• Review customer issues for collection discrepancies focusing on improving areas of concern, understanding that customer relationships and sensitivity are the highest priority
• Complete and remit government-required reporting (StatsCan, HST, US federal and state remittances, etc.)
• Work with external accountants to ensure financial results follow generally accepted accounting principles and proper internal controls are in place
• Be a trusted advisor for management for financial decision-making and financial controls/processes
• Co-ordinating capital requests and tracking of approved capital into fixed asset database
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany balances between related parties.
• Follow and manage compliance to requirements as required by Controlled Goods Registration and other sector registrations (e.g. ITAR)
• Manage grant applications and grant reporting
• Work with Prophet 21 software to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness
• In accordance with the health & safety policy, follow and exceed the legislative requirements outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act to provide a safe & healthy workplace for all employees.
• Assist with payroll functions - time and attendance systems, posting journals, back-up for payroll processing
• Continuous Improvement Projects - electronic funds transfers, data management, fixed asset ledgers
• Driven to ensure all key performance indicator targets are met
• Provide support on financial reports and metrics for other departments as needed
• Complete weekly, monthly, and year-end reporting to Management and the corporate headquarters
• Manage cross-border finance and transfer pricing between related corporations
• Effectively liaise with other members of divisional team and outside suppliers
• Follow regulations and policies as outlined in company's employee handbook
• Coordination of financial portion of SR&ED claims
• Financial Forecasting and budgeting across all operating entities on both an unconsolidated and consolidated basis
• Other duties or projects as assigned
• Review of general ledgers for accuracy
• Ensure compliance with SOX policies and government regulations
• Time management skills to serve several customers at the same time.

Skills / Qualifications:

• Professional personal presentation
• Expert knowledge of Excel (Index/Match, nested if statements, PivotTables)
• Experience in manufacturing or distribution operations
• Demonstrate initiative, reliability, and positive team attitude
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to successfully pass a Controlled Goods Security Assessment
• External: (i.e. degree, diploma, professional designation)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Productivity Suite
• Able to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills
• 3-5 Years of experience in a financial management role with direct reports
• Must be a Canadian Citizen
• College or University Graduate - Accounting Designation required
• Ability to learn ERP Software packages including P21 Software knowledge
