Overview


The Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis acts as a key member of the Eastern Canada Finance team ensuring timely reporting of financial results, operational and sustainability KPIs, performance dashboards and in overseeing the planning cycles. The incumbent requires excellent leadership, communication skills, systems savvy and the ability/willingness to collaborate with all business areas.


Responsibilities


Financial Results Reporting


  • Oversee standard and ad hoc analysis and reporting to support the country reporting needs. Establish and track metrics as required.
  • Work closely with the ECAN Finance team, Regional Finance Teams and the Shared Services Centers to ensure that processes are optimized
  • Delivery of weekly, monthly and quarterly performance decks (ensure cohesiveness between product lines and country in all aspects of reporting)
  • Provide management commentary and adhoc responses to local, North America and Group requests
  • Synthesize standard reports into monthly reporting packages and adapt as required
  • Management of the month-end closing process ensuring all tasks are assigned and completed and in adherence to local, regional and Group guidelines and timelines


Planning and Analysis


  • Responsible to lead the planning cycles and coordinate all expects of in development of forecasts, midterm plans and budgets (template coordination, follow-ups, and systems submission).
  • Assist in regular modeling of cash flow with good understanding of all levers (working capital, leases, capital spend forecasting, etc.)
  • Lead and development of financial analysis and performance dashboards as required


Leadership and Systems


  • Manage, mentor, and develop direct and indirect reports
  • Be an active participant of the North America FP&A community
  • Understanding of all systems and how they interact to each other
  • Risk champion for the company and in coordination the Business Risk Map annual process
  • Lead systems and tools implementation as required


Relationship With Others


  • Daily interaction with Eastern Canada Finance Team
  • Regular interaction with staff at Shared Services Centers
  • Regular interaction with support teams (Procurement, Credit, Environment, treasury, risk and insurance, tax, internal audit, and HR)
  • Regular interaction with Region FP&A Team
  • Regular interaction with the Group FP&A Team


Specific Accountabilities


  • Build and maintain relationships with counterparts at region and corporate levels and other group companies, as well as cross functional relationships
  • Ensure professional, informative, and well written commentaries are provided
  • Keep up to date on accounting requirements and regulations
  • Oversee country balance sheet reconciliations
  • Be an active participant of the North America FP&A community
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Ensure high level of accuracy and integrity in actuals reporting and forecasting
  • Assist in modeling of cash flow
  • Lead staff in developing new insights into the business and develop effective formats to communicate the results and analysis to appropriate audiences
  • Ensure coordination and communication with ECAN Finance, Regional Finance, Group Finance and Product Line Performance teams as required
  • Manage the month-end cycle and adherence to timelines
  • Coordinate the preparation and reporting of forecast, mid-term plan and budget
  • Work with a Continuous Process Improvement and standardization mindset to drive efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a complex matrix type organizational structure
  • Minimum 5 years of financial/business experience in increasingly responsible and complex roles
  • Professional accounting designation required (CPA or CA)
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage people
  • SAP experience & BI skills
  • Operational and Shared Services Finance experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation skills and ability to influence
  • Demonstrated financial/business analysis skills
