Invest in Canada is looking for a temporary Senior Communications Advisor to develop and implement our stakeholder communications strategy. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role is responsible for leading content development and managing relationships with partners and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for this role may include but are not limited to the following:
- Enhance, develop and keep current Invest in Canada’s corporate communications messaging about foreign direct investment in Canada and about the work of Invest in Canada
- Review corporate products to ensure alignment with core messaging and strategic communications objectives.
- Lead the planning and execution of Invest in Canada’s corporate communications strategy through collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer and the Director of Communications.
- Identifies and executes on opportunities to advance corporate communications objectives, including through thought leadership, event participation, traditional and social media
- Leads Invest in Canada’s corporate communications products, ensuring alignment with core messaging and strategic communications objectives.
- In collaboration with the International Communications team, develop and lead communication plans to highlight investment news
- Manage business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the communications strategy.
- Identifies opportunities to leverage Invest in Canada’s CEO to advance corporate communications objectives, including identifying events, speaking and thought leadership opportunities
Requirements:
- Developing and overseeing the implementation of communications strategies in support of major initiatives.
- Providing communications advice to senior management (defined as director and above).
- Assessing communications value and optimize results
- Representing the organization to senior stakeholders, partners, agencies, and clients.
- Organizing cross-departmental information to expedite communications objectives.
- Developing and executing communications plans.
- Previous experience in a public relations firm or agency, considered an asset.
- Significant experience in:
- Anticipating sensitive issues related to communications and interpreting their organizational impact.
- Leading large communications projects, including budgeting and contract management.

- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 7 years or more of relevant experience.
- Writing various communications products and developing content targeted to a broad audience (speeches, news releases, media lines, articles, digital content, etc.).
