We’re posting for a:
Manager, Communications
Posting Type: External + Internal
Location: Hybrid:Hybrid. Preference will be provided to candidates with the ability to work regularly at a Tims Camps work location in Toronto and/or St. George, Ontario. Some remote work will be available for this role.
Summary: This role is responsible to support the development and execution of an integrated communications plan to help keep internal and external audiences inspired, informed and engaged. The Manager, Communications will help bring the story and voice of Tims Camps to priority audiences across a variety of communication channels. Internally, you help design, and execute events, meetings, and programs. Externally, you elevate the Tims Camps brand identity and deepen understanding of our impact across digital and social media through the creation of compelling, best-in-class content. Your writing and editing will support our fundraising and relationship management goals, ultimately enabling us to welcome more youth to Tims Camps.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation (20%)
- Work closely with Tims Camps program team to ensure we are relaying their work to our audience, translating their impact into compelling cases for support and content that highlights our impact.
- Identify potential stories and/or spokespeople, working with camper-facing teams and conducting interviews as needed.
- Research, write and publish stellar copy highlighting Tims Camps youth, donors, Tim Hortons restaurant owners, and community partners across digital channels, including email communications, newsletters, blog posts, social media and more.
Social Media (20%)
- Design social media strategy optimized to deepen audience awareness.
- Manage social media calendar(s).
- Report on social media analytics.
- Create content and post on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as TimZONE, the Tim Hortons intranet.
PR & Marketing (20%)
- Collaboratively develop and manage public relations, media requests and other marketing/communication initiatives.
- Prepare speakers, past campers and staff members to speak on behalf of the Foundation including but, not limited to the following: Identification and tracking of potential spokespeople, creation of speaking points, power point decks and any logistical items.
- Support high-profile fundraisers and other signature events including Camp Day, coordinating with internal and external business partners.
- Support crisis communications as required.
- Respond to general inquiries from the public, drafts letters and memos for circulation, review documents prior to publication, and serve as contact for general inquiries as required.
- Maintain a camper and alumni spokesperson roster.
Internal Communications (20%)
- Execute communication tactics of the Owner Engagement Strategic Plan.
- Contribute to the planning, writing, deck creation, and execution of organization-wide presentations, speeches and meetings as needed.
- Manage internal communications announcements on Workplace, the Tims Camps intranet.
- Create and maintain a tracking mechanism to record and assess post-campaign communication metrics and apply learnings to future planning.
Team-wide Support (20%)
- Play a supporting role to the communications department from internal and external communications, digital and social communications and restaurant owner communications.
- Ensure policies for photo consent, trademark and logo usage and copyright compliance are in place and continually updated.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of an asset database, including images, videos and media release forms, ensuring it meets emerging needs.
- Manage storage and archiving of historical Tims Camps communications and documentation
Does this sound like you?
- Experience and capability using Microsoft Office, including Word, Power Point and Excel
- Post-Secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience and comfort conducting interviews and managing relationships
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proven experience with creating compelling social media content, overseeing editorial/social media calendar, monitoring and managing media assets
- Ability to travel throughout Canada and the US as required (less than 5%)
- Creative and resourceful team-player with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- 4+ years’ communications, journalism, marketing or related experience
- Proven written and oral communication skills, and the ability to tell a great story across channels
Assets
- Experience working with youth from underserved communities
- Knowledge of the camping or outdoor environmental education fields
- Public relations experience
- French language abilities
- Experience with Adobe Creative and Canva
- Graphic design, photography, or video skills
