Role

• The position level may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications

Reporting to the Senior Director within the Capital Solutions team, the incumbent supports the team in achieving their business objectives by carrying out the various steps involved in the financial analysis process. The incumbent is also called to playing an active role in the careful monitoring of projects, contributing to the management of investment opportunities, helping to improve portfolio performance and promoting collaboration and teamwork.

The incumbent will focus predominantly on opportunities within the Aerospace industry, aircraft leasing, and aviation finance.

The incumbent contributes to investments in specialty finance, opportunistic credit and subordinated equity, among others. Transactional expertise in private equity, corporate credit, infrastructure or investment banking is a priority for this position. Aerospace industry experience and expertise is preferred.

The incumbent will be responsible for thorough fundamental analyses of the various projects and modelling financial results.

Main responsibilities

• Monitor changes in the quarterly and annual financial results of portfolio investments;
• Produce the required documentation regarding transaction opportunities and the portfolio (synopsis sheets, financial and valuation models, internal risk ratings, sectoral reports);
• Review the available financial information and analyze counterparty credit profile, as needed..
• Review and analyze legal documentation related to investments (leasing documents, letters of offer, credit agreements, prospectuses and other legal documents);
• Help identify potential crisis situations sufficiently in advance;
• Prepare investment recommendations and present to decision-making bodies;
• Participate in the selection of aviation credit, equity and aircraft leasing opportunities on the primary and secondary markets and help prepare, within established timetables, preliminary analyses and documents on investment recommendations (executive summaries).
• Carry out project research and fundamental analysis; examine leadership and business model quality, capacity ability to create value, growth potential and project risks;
• Carry out all other related tasks as requested by the team leader.
• Develop effective analysis, search and monitoring systems;
• Offer assistance to other team members to achieve expected results
• Play an active role in the investment due diligence process.

Requirements

• Sound knowledge of project financing or tangible assets
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related disciplined An equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration
• Studies related to the CFA program and/or FRM, an asset
• Proficiency in software programs and databases used in the financial market (Office suite, Bloomberg, Capital IQ)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and French
• Seven or more years of experience in fundamental investment analysis preferably in the Aerospace, Aircraft Leasing or Airline sectors.
