Position Overview:

Reporting to Operations Manager, the Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and transmitting clear and reliable messages, tracking vehicles and equipment and recording other important information. The role also includes providing a high degree of customer service in a fast paced environment. This position will be based in Markham.

Primary Responsibilities

Dispatching

• Take responsibility for the Emergency Response Plan in the event of a serious collision
• Contact drivers via radio/email with route/student changes
• Alert drivers to road closures or delays
• Identifies all runs and drivers are active on routes on time to ensure no students are left behind or missed

Administration

• Manages and updates student, driver and Asset maintenance in Velocity
• Manages and assists garage with scheduling vehicle maintenance
• Manages, updates and pulls reports from Zonar and Bushive
• Manages and assists supervisors with student portal information updates for drivers routes

Customer Service

• Assigns driver for Charter trips
• Contacts Consortium, Zonar and Bushive for route/vehicle updates as per Consortium Contract
• Answers telephones, faxes, and Voyago emails

Driving

• Must be available to spare occasionally to cover school routes when needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications that include, but are not limited to, the following:

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Class B drivers licence or ability to upgrade
• Clean criminal record search
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Must hold a clean driving record
• Post Secondary Education or Equivalent
• Excellent time and stress management skills
• Excellent communication skills
