Research Product Manager - Technology Initiatives and Operations

Strategy & Analytical Initiatives

• Support strategy development and road-map planning for research product and operations
• Present ideas and strategy on how we can better utilize the firm’s datasets to drive insights, increase client engagement/revenue, improve productivity, and KPI tracking
• Collaborates with platform owner and process owners within their product domain to unify the roadmap vision
• Stay abreast industry and competitive activities to inform features & functionalities, and best-practices for the Research products & operations
• Lead Analytics & Insights for external client engagement, internal user productivity and other ad-hoc analyses for Research and Global Markets Executive Teams
• Promotes and evangelizes the platform and products across different functions to improve business capabilities and support competitive advantages
• Present ideas, solicit input, negotiate compromise, influence decisions and garner support of leadership and/or initiative stakeholders
• Proactively identify ideas on process and system enhancements and new product development

Project/Product based responsibilities would include:

• Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Research tools, systems and business procedures, to effectively participate in product development/enhancement, Agile sessions, and all testing/implementation cycles
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that products are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the bank's high standards of quality and security.
• Support UAT and PIV activities including planning, defect triage and root-cause analysis for requirements-related issues
• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex products, managing product launch activities, go-to-market plans, and post-launch feedback.
• Build and maintain a repository of reusable requirements documentation to support future initiatives
• Manage relationships with all stakeholders, execution partners and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to identify and manage the delivery of enhancements and error-resolution in a timely manner
• Work closely with the Research Technology team to provide business requirements and business decisions on new products, enhancements on existing platforms
• Manage various size and multiple Projects in parallel

Day-To-Day Responsibilities (Global with US Focus) would include:

• Analyze different data sets and produce meaningful reports for the business
• Work closely with other business functions and end-users to identify and track enhancement requests and suggest solutions
• Conduct New Hire Training on all research systems and tools
• Proactively seek opportunities for improvements and efficiency in business processes, and propose working solutions
• Apply analytical and business skills to proactively identify, track, manage, and resolve operational issues and propose enhancements as necessary
• Collaborates with the platform/development team on technical and support issues/cases
• Key stakeholder manager for the Global Research Teams
• Support day to day needs of the Research Department, including active products & systems and general applications
• Responsible for the Conflict Disclosures process and work closely with Compliance on reviews
• Take full ownership of all assigned business processes and projects, and complete tasks with accuracy and within timeline
• Acts as platform representative and platform resource coordinator to projects and initiatives that leverage the platform

Must-have

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including presentation skills.
• Self-motivated individual, who demonstrates initiative in all they do and thrives in a dynamic environment with evolving, changing and competing priorities
• Proficiency in business process analyses and strategy development
• Must possess a high degree of experience in MS Office Applications, Business Intelligence or data/reporting tools, database management systems, etc.
• The ability to learn and understand new technologies quickly
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Understanding and experience with Sell-side Research process, products and systems
• Ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships across all levels within the firm, external vendors, and clients
• Outstanding analytical skills in analyzing multiple datasets, reporting and working with ambiguity
• Very naturally analytical with the ability to think outside the box while identifying issues and suggesting solutions
• Product & User Experience focused mindset
• 5+ years of relevant experience

Nice-to-have

• Prior experience of leading cross-functional projects & initiatives and/or Management Consulting is a plus
• MBA or relevant Masters’ Degree
• Understanding of Capital Markets, including the different business units, processes, products and systems
• Experience in product development and strategy development
• Background in Capital Markets Equities and/or Sell-side Research business

Job Summary

The Research Product Manager is responsible for driving and overseeing the Technology & Operations product development, delivery, enhancements, and as well as contributing to strategic initiatives of the Global Research department, that is essential to the day-to-day operations and provides a technology foundation for the bank's competitive edge in the marketplace. He/She also acts as a primary liaison with our partners across different business units (Investment Banking, Sales and Trading, Research Technology), lead ad-hoc analytics (data), manage/own products/platforms, and provide operations excellence on projects and workflows as required. In addition, the product manager is also heavily involved in all stages of the product development cycle, including initial idea & strategy development, requirements gathering, user-experience testing, implementation oversight and PIV, functional testing, and success measurement.
