Canadian Concrete Pipe & Precast Association
The CCPPA was established in November of 2013 to represent concrete pipe producers and manufacturers of precast concrete products. The not-for-profit association was established to protect and advance the interests of the concrete pipe and precast concrete industry in Canada.
Some of our key activities are:
-Specifications and Standards development and consultation with regulators, specifiers, and designers.
-Education of professionals involved in specifying materials and products of gravity pipe and transportation
systems.
-Government relations.
-Promotion of the precast concrete products and systems
-Research to advance the knowledge of materials used for constructing precast concrete infrastructure.
Position Title: Region Engineer, East GTA/Eastern Ontario
Reports To:President
Description of the Position:
The purpose of the position is to promote and educate consulting staff, municipal staff and post-secondary students with respect to the design, manufacturing, installation and inspection of concrete pipe and precast structures.
Main geographic area will be between the GTA (west of Hwy 400) and Ottawa. Some travel to Western Canada may be required to help support Western Canada Region Engineers and/or their initiatives.
Primarily focused on specifications, the Region Engineer will:
-Develop a network of key stakeholders from the consulting firms, municipalities, and post-secondary
institutions.
-Collaborate with the stakeholders to develop favorable standards and specification with respect to concrete
pipe and precast structures.
-Organize and present at Lunch & Learns (municipal, consulting or post-secondary institutions) to provide
specific technical and practical information.
-Organizing manufacturing plant tours at our producer member locations.
-Involvement with half day seminars throughout Canada
-Involvement with practical training sessions throughout Canada
-Provide municipal and consulting staff with specification support as well as specifications review.
-Work with producers to provide articles that can be incorporated in our Spring and Fall Concrete Pipe & Precast
Journal.
-Involvement with our social media platforms.
-Improve product knowledge of concrete pipe and precast structures through interactions with CCPPA staff,
producer members, municipal staff and consultants.
-Attend political/lobbying event to help promote the industry.
-Participate in Ontario focused Marketing and Technical Committees that include staff from both producer
members and supplier members.
-As required, attend construction industry events and engineering profession events.
-Participate in trade shows.
-Help coordinate research projects as agreed to by the President.
-Perform other functions as required and as assigned by the President.
-This position report to the President of CCPPA.
Working Conditions:
The Region Engineer will be working remotely (out of their home) located between East GTA and Ottawa.
A vehicle will be provided to the Region Engineer.
The Region Engineer will be required to spend time, face to face, promoting and interacting with consulting and municipal staff as well as post-secondary students and producer members. Traveling throughout Eastern Ontario and occasionally Western Ontario will be a regular occurrence. Some overnight stays will be required.
Air travel will be required, on occasion, for meetings or to provide support for association initiatives in other parts of Canada.
Position Requirement:
-Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (P.Eng.)
-Currently a resident of Ontario
-Minimum of 5 years' experience (10 years preferred) in the infrastructure construction /design field in Ontario.
-Experience with respect to the design, manufacturing, installation and/or inspection of concrete pipe and/or
precast structures is considered an asset.
-Strong presentation skills
-Strong communication skills
-Ability to connect with stakeholders (consultants, municipal staff, and post-secondary institutions) and develop a
network of key individuals.
