A Taste of the Job- Critical Outcomes from the Job
Assists in keeping Nature’s Path on the leading edge of customer satisfaction by ensuring quality consistent products by means of:
- Assist R&D Food Scientists in product development, value engineering, and supply chain projects, adhering to project timelines.
- Scale ingredients, prepare formulations, and aid in recipe revisions using Genesis.
- Manage inventory of raw materials and supplies in the R&D lab.
- Efficient Benchtop Support: Assist in the timely execution of product development, value engineering and supply chain project activities to meet project timelines.
- Interact with suppliers to verify the quality and suitability of raw materials.
Quality Execution: Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the lab processes, contributing to the development of high-quality food products.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assist in maintaining compliance with food safety regulations and regulatory guidelines (such as meeting nutritional targets determined including protein claims on pack).
- Provide support and clarification to production teams as required
- Assist in investigating product quality issues related to consumer services and operations.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout lab processes.
Collaborative Contribution: Foster effective and timely collaboration with team members and support cross-functional communication with support of project lead(s).
Data Accuracy and Documentation Support: Ensure comprehensive documentation is maintained for analysis and decision-making by means of:
- Maintaining accurate records of lab experiments and results.
- Reporting sensory shelf-life results as needed.
- Assisting in creating, revising, and following up on raw material and finished good specifications.
Sensory program support: assists the sensory program by means of organizing and conducting shelf-life studies, participating actively in sensory evaluations, conducts standard analytical testing on product samples to ensure compliance with specifications such as color, moisture, dimensions, Aw, & viscosity measurements.

Path to Success- Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in the Land and Food Systems program with a concentration in Food Sciences, or related degree.
- Knowledge of Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Product Development, and Food Analysis are an asset
Experience
- Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- 2-3 years of experience or training in either of the following: Food Science, Sensory, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Quality Assurance or any other related fields.
- Must be able to work flexible hours if needed
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel.
- Experience with Canadian and USA Food Regulations and Organic standards are an asset.
- Experience in a product development lab, pilot plant, quality assurance function in the food industry.
- Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP.
