IT Support Technician (C1)

Location: ALS Canada, North Vancouver

Reports to: IT Service Delivery Manager

About The Position

• You will be the main point of contact for installation and configuration, the initial point of contact for user inquiries and troubleshooting requests, including helpdesk support.

Specific Responsibilities

• Providing support for multiple sites
• Installation and application software, as well as installing upgrades and patches
• Proactive network and server monitoring and troubleshooting
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
• Active Directory tasks – account and object creation and modification
• Installation and configuration of printers and other computer peripherals.
• Other duties as assigned
• Troubleshooting of hardware, software, and connectivity issues in an Enterprise environment
• Installation and configuration of servers, desktops, workstations, and laptops, including operating system
• Ongoing maintenance of systems documentation
• Providing support outside normal hours of work.
• Monitor and answer service desk ticketing system

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good interpersonal skills, being a team player, having a strong sense of responsible, and an excellent work ethic
• General knowledge of laboratory practices and laboratory information management systems
• Experience with one or more of: Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, Hyper-V, Azure
• Proven troubleshooting and technical support skills
• Strong English communication skills both written and verbal

Required Qualifications

• Experience with server operating systems and application software including (but not limited to) Windows 2012 and up
• Availability to work afternoon shift or weekends, if required
• Knowledge of networking connectivity, protocols, and security devices, including VPN troubleshooting
• Experience with desktop operating systems and application software including (but not limited to) Windows 7, 10 and 11, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe
• A minimum of 1 year professional experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) supporting Windows servers, LAN/WAN networks and computers

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time;
• Ability to lift or carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs;
• Manual dexterity to do repetitive tasks such as data entry.
• Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance;
• Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 7.5 hours per day;
