Project Manager (Contract) Jobs

• Location: Mississauga, Ontario (3 days on site, 2 days work from home per week)
• 6 MONTH contract to start, with possible extensions
• Rate is flexible and generous
• PLEASE NOTE: This project will be focused on New Product Introduction in the HW product space (think robotics/devices)... so embedded SW is key

JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Project Manager will be responsible for the scoping, planning and execution of new development and current product development projects within the business, utilizing globally dispersed multidisciplinary teams. The role requires responsibility for all phases of product development from concept through to release to customers and ongoing support activity of current products, utilizing a scrum based agile development methodology.

Effective communication to stakeholders and team members and control of the project team are vital to ensuring that project objectives are met and delivered as planned and within budget. The jobholder will also contribute to improving and documenting best practice agile project development methodologies for the business.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Work with the Business Analyst, Product Owner/Manager and technical leads to create appropriate project definition documents for each project in order to frame the project scope, approach, deliverables, cost, resourcing requirements, governance and schedule, including a detailed risk analysis.

· Drive the cross-functional, globally dispersed team to meet the project plan to the agreed project deliverables, schedule and budget targets, holding regular project reviews and providing regular stakeholder updates on progress.

· Where appropriate, work in collaboration with the hardware development teams in order to align with stage gate milestone dates, cost estimates and outline project objectives with inputs from the skill and functional team members (Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing etc.).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Strong agile project management skills utilized in a commercial software development environment managing multiple projects in parallel and with team members globally dispersed.

· Basic technical understanding of software products and their development (mobile applications, cloud based software solutions)

· Able to work closely with senior stakeholders internally and externally to manage business and project requirements

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Good interpersonal skills with a proven ability to motivate and energize globally dispersed teams

· Sound analytical and problem solving skills

· Be self-motivated, proactive and thorough in their approach to the work.

· Be able to work on their own, and as part of a team.

· Ability to liaise and co-ordinate tasks and data with peers and higher grade employees in order to successfully complete work tasks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Education / Experience

· Experience as a project manager utilizing scrum / agile methodologies with multi-disciplinary project teams to develop commercial software products.

· Good working knowledge of Atlassian products – Jira, Confluence

· Good working knowledge of Windows applications including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.

· Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering or business subject or equivalent experience

· Successful experience of managing outsourced product development

· Risk management & creating associated mitigation plans

· Technical requirements setting / management
