This Opportunity
Durham College is seeking a contract IT Project Manager (PM) in the IT Services department. Reporting to the Manager, IT Service Management and Governance, in the Office of the AVP of Information Technology, the Project Manager is responsible for overseeing IT project initiatives of IT Services. This is a contract role from September 5th 2023 through March 31st 2024 (7 months), with possibility of annual extension. This role works 30 hours per week, and will be paid $56.05 per hour plus applicable vacation pay.
The PM works closely with directors and managers in IT Services, as well as other project managers within Durham College, Ontario Tech and vendor teams to support projects, service requests, enhanced service requests and incidents, as needed.
The Project Manager partners with IT and business leadership and other key stakeholders to drive progress of IT-related projects based on predefined criteria, e.g., institutional strategic priorities.
The Project Manager is responsible for project management of selected IT projects. The incumbent supports the IT project intake and portfolio processes to ensure projects are defined, tracked and communicated in a consistent and effective manner. The incumbent plays a key role in supporting operational, project and portfolio related reporting, including generation of reports and related ticket and data analysis to support IT Services leaders with operational activities. The PM will lead IT Service Management projects such as ticketing system upgrades, evolution of ticketing system dashboards, etc., and is expected to be a key support resource for users of the ticketing system.
The PM will also manage selected projects from IT infrastructure, audio-visual services, and system upgrades. Experience in this space would be regarded as an asset.
The incumbent will lead IT management change processes including change advisory board activities and provide support for users with their change records.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of (10) years of progressive work experience in the IT sector, and a minimum of (8) years of experience as an IT Project Manager, and a minimum of (5) years of experience with managing IT projects in an enterprise environment. The candidate will possess a relevant four (4) year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Completion of formal Project Management training, PMI certification or equivalent experience is required. An ITIL Foundations level of certification and/or knowledge of COBIT are an asset. The incumbent should also be able demonstrate that they have kept their skills and knowledge up to date through professional activities and/or additional formal training. The incumbent must have a thorough understanding and significant experience with RFP and other processes for acquiring information technology goods and services. The candidate must have experience managing customer relationships with strong analytical, organizational, project management and decision-making skills. Experience in the higher education sector is an asset.
Hourly Rate: $56.05 per hour
Contract: September 2023 – March 2024
