Position purpose:


Reporting to the Manager, Special Projects:


Provides expertise to the Manager, Special Projects of the CDEL sector with the coordination and management of all aspects of project implementation and continuous improvement plans, according to scheduled timelines. Provides leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of a sound management framework for projects and initiatives, as well as proposing tools, practices and processes to ensure optimal performance.


In this role, your responsibilities will include:


  • Continuous improvement: Facilitate focus groups and work sessions with stakeholder representatives aimed at identifying results, processes and procedures to be improved and the means to achieve them. Develop working practices, processes and tools.
  • Performance management: Establish a dashboard of performance indicators. Identify relevant performance indicators for data analysis, develop data collection tools, coordinate data collection, analyze data and track performance indicators. Write performance management reports and propose recommendations.
  • Communication: Develop and coordinate implementation of project communications plans. Develop and provide presentations to stakeholders on project development and deliverables. Prepare documents required to ensure appropriate dissemination of information to key individuals. Prepare annual and interim reports for the university community.
  • Evidence-based research: Be on the lookout for best practices in order to recommend and implement operational improvements within the sector. Prepare reports and make recommendations to sector management to guide development strategy.
  • Continuous professional learning: Develop a framework of competencies and behaviors focused on the sector's priorities and services for staff to support management in its pursuit of objectives and targeted results.
  • Project management: Develop and establish a project management framework. Develop, manage and implement project plans in collaboration with unit managers, taking into account the key components of project management. Obtain commitment from partners to take concrete action in order to advance projects and achieve targets within developed timeframes.


What you will bring:

  • Skills and aptitudes: planning, initiative, customer focus, teamwork and collaboration, environmental awareness, critical thinking, oral and written communication, self-awareness and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management knowledge normally acquired through post-secondary education
  • Good ability to write reports and make recommendations
  • Bilingualism - French and English ( spoken and written)
  • Proven experience in preparing and facilitating presentations and working sessions with a variety of audiences, of different sizes.
  • Experience in process development, review and documentation (Lean Six Sigma training an asset)
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, on several projects simultaneously and to meet strict deadlines.
  • At least five years' relevant experience in project and performance management in an academic environment
