Job Description
Description
Key Elements:
  • Serve as back up for other payroll processing and inquiries as required
  • Review and execute additions, deletions and changes in our payroll system
  • Payroll systems updates may be required from time to time, appropriate testing to ensure a smooth transition will be required
  • Collaborate with payroll provider on required basis to ensure the accurate transfer of payroll data
  • Track and consolidate overtime and absenteeism data for reporting to management
  • Compile and analyze data from multiple sources to maintain relevant information that aid in the development of analytics and reports (headcount reports)
  • Prepare, develop and assist with ad hoc reports and projects as a member of Total Rewards Team
  • Perform audit checklist procedures before and after payroll runs to ensure payroll accuracy
  • Act as the initial point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and problem resolution
  • Maintain strong working relationship with unionized employees as well as their representatives
  • Work with members of HR&C to help identify and create tracking/reporting protocols for key metrics
  • Work with the Finance department to provide required information/assist with audit requests
  • Ensure timely and accurate feeds from the payroll system to other downstream systems
  • Responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and according to company policies and applicable government legislation.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • 2 to 3 years payroll experience
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • University Degree or Diploma in Business, Payroll or HR discipline
  • Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
  • Strong team player capable of performing in a fast paced deadline driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Payroll Association designation (CPA)
  • Certified Human Resource Professional designation (CHRP)
  • Experience with an automated timekeeping system
