Job Summary
The BaSE (Building and Systems Engineering) Part-Time Automation Supervisor supports the reliable operation of the automated sorting system. Works in the control room monitoring system functions and parameters, and works with other departments to avoid and address issues which degrade the effectiveness of the automated sorting system. Calls out to BaSE staff via radio to address errors and failures.
Assists with determining proper corrective action to be taken with damaged or worn equipment based on the history of breakdowns and discussions with the operations team to determine the most cost effective solutions. Assists with dispatching PE Mechanics to complete necessary conveyor system repairs and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), using Maximo CMMS to schedule work so the equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. Monitors status of repair and PMI updates daily to ensure timely completion of work. Assists with updating repairs and PMI database in Maximo by processing PE Mechanics’ timecards and completing PMI checklists so that the equipment is maintained at an optimal level and the facility is efficient.
Assists with conducting facility inspections and identifying operational improvements needed to promote efficiency of package flow and safety.
Responsibilities

• Eyes and ears of the BaSE department during operation. Monitors the function of the conveyor sorting system. Issues investigative and repair requests over the radio for systems working sub-optimally and broken equipment. Works with other departments to advise on flow of packages to maximize efficiency and avoid problems.
• Assists with identifying and scheduling necessary repairs and preventative maintenance, through the use of PE mechanics and outside vendors, to maintain the condition of the facility.
• Assists with maintaining facility safety compliance in accordance with UPS programs (e.g. conveyor system safety, guarding standards, etc.) to promote health and safety of UPS workers.
• Assists with overseeing the protection of physical assets, facility and equipment maintenance, and facility housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient facility.
• Generate daily sort performance report.

Qualifications

• Working toward or obtained Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
• Diploma or certificate in applicable technical specialty - Required
