Job Description

PRO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the social, health, and environmental benefits of quality recreation and parks. The organization was formed in 1995 out of a shared belief in the power of parks and recreation to affect social change. We believe that parks and recreational programs aren't just a fringe benefit, but that they are essential to the social, economic, and environmental health of Ontario. Equitable access to parks and recreational programs promotes health, strengthens communities, and supports environmental sustainability. With this in mind, we work with our 6,500 members to build capacity for the delivery of quality programs and advocate for the parks and recreation sector more broadly. PRO’s work falls under three pillars: training and education, quality standards programs including the HIGH FIVE standard, and policy. This position works across all three programs to ensure that PRO continues to meet the needs of the sector.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Policy and Partnerships, the Membership and Growth Specialist will lead the execution of the organization’s membership portfolio and drive revenue lines for the organization by connecting stakeholders and members with the services that meet their needs.

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will become a part of a small but mighty team of talented, friendly individuals looking to make an impact in the parks and recreation sector. Reporting to the Director of Policy and Partnerships, you will have the opportunity to lead the growth of an established organization that is well-respected in the sector by seeking synergies for members, stakeholders, and other partners. You will be responsible for overseeing the membership portfolio and being an advocate on behalf of parks and recreation practitioners to ensure their needs are being met with value added products and services. This role helps to drive key revenue lines for PRO by promoting HIGH FIVE services to new and existing members as well as existing and prospective business partners.

Membership Management

  • Manage the membership onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with a team in the development and execution of membership engagement campaigns.
  • Build relationships with prospective members making clear the benefits of PRO and HIGH FIVE services.
  • Support member access to benefits.
  • Support existing and prospective members as they access the PRO and HIGH FIVE databases and other services.

Membership Strategy

  • Provide input on communication updates and website content as it pertains to membership.
  • Collect data on memberships and HIGH FIVE registered organizations and provide key insights on trends related to attrition and renewal rates.
  • Implement and contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization’s membership strategies.

Business Development

  • Recruit and support sponsors with the goal of developing ongoing relationships with the business community as well as meeting the sponsorship budget for events.
  • Develop relationships with organizations in the sector to promote PRO and HIGH FIVE programs and services.
  • Collaborate with the staff team to identify business development opportunities and promote PRO and HIGH FIVE services.
  • In consultation with relevant staff, plan and coordinate trade shows at PRO’s annual events and other occasions as may be determined.
  • Attend events as required to conduct the onsite registration process and troubleshoot client issues.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma – preferably in Business Management, Sales and/or Marketing.
  • Able to learn about the organization’s programs and services and synthesize the information when communicating with stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of financial concepts.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of database programs, and website editors, and the willingness to learn new technologies.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience developing and expanding a strong membership base, cultivating sponsors, and sales.
  • Experience working cross organizationally to meet goals and revenue targets.

Salary Range:$70,000 - $80,000
