What is a Manufacturing Operator?

Assisting with the daily operations of the manufacturing area, Manufacturing Operators can work with a variety of machines and processes to meet production targets for the assigned production lines each day. Working to achieve various competencies, associates can be cross trained across production lines to meet business needs and labor demands.

• I can read tape measurement both in Metric and Imperial, basic math skills including converting fraction to decimal, mechanical inclined

• I am interested and/or have experience with the manual handling of steel/metal products
• My personal safety is especially important to me?
• Interested in learning how to read production cards and other technical documents, using a measuring tape to confirm specs

Where will I be working?

Our client was Established in 1924, is a Canadian manufacturing company making alloy steel products that are formed, forged, upset, threaded, or heat-treated for a variety of markets. As one of North America's largest full-line leaf spring, suspension component and agricultural tillage tool manufacturers, they pride itself on quality products and services.

They are registered to the ISO 14001 international environmental standard, the ISO 9001 international quality standard and in 2010, they were successful in obtaining our Certificate of Recognition (COR), Alberta's only safety standard recognized by Occupational Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial part inspection, in process inspections, trouble shooting and process improvements along with any other tasks assigned to you by your supervisor
• Operate presses or other forging machines to produce steel parts
• Manipulate, carry and/or lift 10-75 lbs. of steel for the purposes of forging, forming, shaping, heat treating and assembling material into various shapes and sizes Operate gas or electric furnaces to heat steel to proper temperatures for forging and hot processing if necessary
• Place heated or cold metal pieces into process equipment and/or tooling for forging, shaping, and processing steel parts

• Manufacturing environment, loud
• Conditions: heat, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required in specified areas (provided)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $19.04per hour

Shifts:

Day Shift: 5:30am - 4:40pm

Night Shift: 6:00pm - 4:30 am ($.75 premium for this shift)
