We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Journeyman Millwright!

We are seeking an energetic individual with a keen eye to detail and a positive demeanor for this role! The successful candidate will have a Journeyman Millwright designation and focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement. This role is based out of our PVC plant location in Edmonton, AB and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Summary

• Close out the work orders (or provide maintenance planner and supervisor feedback) and any further work to be done.
• Plan and layout work assignments from complex blueprints, sketches or verbal instruction and accomplish these assignments with the maximum efficiency.
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Work proactively to continuously improve plant mechanical performance. Make recommendations for improvement to Maintenance supervisor, planner, and manager.
• Work with other classifications of employees in emergency situations, plant shut down periods, and in times when machinery is not operating to perform all necessary maintenance related activities to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time.
• Must know and keep updated with all national, provincial, and local codes as they affect repair, maintenance, safety, construction and dismantling of machinery, equipment and structures.
• Capable of providing training, instruction and direction to apprentices or helpers assigned to the Millwrights during the course of their duties.
• Competently and safely inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing plant machinery, equipment, systems, building and physical structures.
• Competently and safely use all tools and operate all machine tools such as lathes and grinders for the efficient overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of Company property.
• Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Create work orders in the computer maintenance management system (CMMS) for all work 10 minutes or longer.
• Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations.
• Operate mobile material handling equipment to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.

Requirements

• Journeyman Millwright or Industrial Millwright with Red Seal. Previous exposure to PVC or similar industry is an asset.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Should be capable of maintaining a friendly, positive and can-do attitude under a very demanding and fast paced environment.
• Experience with welding, hydraulics, blueprint reading, minor machining, minor electrical repairs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Forklift certificate required – Internal training available
• Previous experience with computers (solid understanding of MS Excel and Word)
• Ability to work with little supervision, and multi-task in a fast paced and changing environment.

Working Conditions

• Climbing heights in excess of 10′; must be able to work at heights
• Considerable amount of sensory attention is required
• Working in confined spaces, such as silos
• The use of hand tools
• Manufacturing plant environment requiring varying degrees of physical labour including lifting up to 50 lbs.
