Journeyman Welder Jobs

Amalgamated Mining Equipment attracts and hires highly skilled individuals. We are seeking experienced fulltime permanent employee or contractor Journeyman Welder with Underground Mining Equipment Experience to join our dynamic team and grow with us in our Edmonton, AB Shop location. We have been in business for over 30 years and still going strong.

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisors, the Journeyman Welder will work with the Maintenance team and be responsible for providing Welding support and expertise to our equipment operations. This position requires a thorough knowledge of heavy mining equipment and the motivation to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. Using technical and practical knowledge this position will follow instruction, utilize shop and assembly manuals, and adhere to the health and safety standards as established by Amalgamated Group of Companies.

Responsibilities:

• Manual welding, flame-cutting, brazing and soldering, shaping, ARC and GAS welding.
• Understand the basics of reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Responsible for ordering parts and materials needed.
• Assist in the completion of all necessary documentation as per process/protocol to ensure cost effectiveness and budget allocation.
• Provide quality workmanship consistent with industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
• Notify Manager of unsafe practices and unsafe environment.
• Perform tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
• Preparation and site clean-up, including rubbish removal.
• Participate in daily Toolbox meetings and support monthly work-site inspections.
• Actively participate as a high performing, team member.
• Daily equipment inspections and ensuring proper maintenance and repairs are completed.
• Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, fabricating, assembling/installing, and repairing mobile & heavy equipment.

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience
• Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to maintain a high level of performance over a 10 hour shift.
• Certified Journeyman Welder (Red Seal)
• Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Preferred Licensing & Certifications

• Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certificate is an asset
• Certified Journeyperson or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
